“It was ok but not great! Food was hit or miss. Breakfast Buffett was good and lunch ok but dinner was meh. Went with family and was sharing a room, which was supposed to be double beds it ended up being a king. Went down to switch and they tried to move us to the street side and not ocean like we paid for. So that was inconvenient. Ended up working out since we were able to switch rooms with other family members but no help from the resort.”

“Positives first - we had an enjoyable few days at the Riu in December. The staff (not management) make this hotel. Friendly bar staff and waiting servers all across the hotel.
Negatives. It advertises itself as an Adults Only hotel. Funny then, how most days we saw children blatantly parading through the hotel and on the beach. There were families literally sitting next to the ‘Adults only’ sign on the beach, see photos. When I raised this with the ad hoc (I say ad hoc as there were frequently times when no guards were in sight on the open entrance from the public footpath which runs past the back of the hotel – see photo) security guards, they said ‘it’s a public beach, we can’t do anything.’ So why put signs saying Adults Only I wonder? When I said ‘but it’s advertised as an Adults Only hotel’, I was told that the actual hotel is. I beg to differ – see photo. There were children in the hotel grounds most days, using the pool, playing with balls, and one evening sitting in the lobby chairs while their parents (from another hotel looking at their wristbands) were using the casino. My point above – no security – they just wandered in. Which did make me concerned about who else might be just wandering in, with rohypnol in their bags etc….
I asked to speak to management on Day 2 and was told ‘oh yes, another guest has complained about the children, the manager knows and will be addressing it tomorrow.’ Day 3 came and went, nothing was done. I asked again, still nothing was done. For the whole holiday. Management either does not care or is incapable of implementing proper 24 hour security to make sure only paid-up hotel guests enter. Whilst the children was an inconvenience, and not the service we paid for, the security issue is of much greater concern.
We unfortunately had an extended stay owing to the invasion of Venezuela. The hotel initially dealt with it well, and offered all guests a ‘distress rate’ for the next two days. We could not get a flight out for a week, so we were then told we had to go back onto the full rate (fair enough) and move rooms to a standard room and pay for it immediately now. I explained I couldn’t as my credit card was in the room safe and would I just go and get it. They refused to let me do that, and brought out security (who were apparently now available for action) to escort me in the lift to the room and stand over me while I got the card from the safe. It was completely humiliating and unnecessary, and the male receptionist actually referred to me as ‘sweetheart’ whilst he was patronisingly arranging the escort to our room. They really need some lessons in customer care.
To make matters worse, we then found out that other guests had been offered the distress rate for their remaining 5 days. When I raised this with reception and asked why we were being treated differently and discriminated against, I was told this was not true. I said ‘but I’ve just seen the email (they clearly don’t realise guests talk to each other in traumatic circumstances) from Derek to those guests’! The receptionist then got on the phone to Derek and reverted to Spanish. Also not realising I speak Spanish and heard exactly how they were planning to get out of it. By lying. The receptionist told me that I must have imagined the email, and then said they were going to go and make those guests pay full rate or they would kick them out. He asked me ‘not to mention it to them and they would put a letter under their door at 1am so they would find it tomorrow morning’.
I was absolutely astounded at this behaviour and that management’s attitude was to lie about it, then resolve it by threatening other guests with eviction. We then found out that the guests’ travel agent emailed them 10 minutes after the call I had witnessed saying ‘you might not want to mention to other guests that you’ve been given the distress rate.’ !!!! It all felt very sneaky and underhand, and discriminatory towards us to be given different treatment and then lied to about it, whilst already under very stressful circumstances,
On our penultimate day, at breakfast, we found a cockroach in the bread rolls. We quietly mentioned it to the cleaner instead of screeching and yelling, as we could have done, and management thanked us for dealing with it in that way. The attitude from the front desk staff when we were trying to sort out arrangements for our last few days then suddenly and remarkably changed. We then received a courtesy call from staff in our room that evening asking if ‘everything was OK with our stay.’ We did not really know what to say to that, given the way we had been treated in previous days by the management.
Our treatment by management put a real downer on the last few days of what was a stressful and anxious and unwanted, extended stay at the Riu. We could not wait to get out of there and get home. It was a real shame as the other hotel staff were lovely and the island is beautiful, it was the management and their attitude (as well as all the kids and the cockroach) which marred our stay and has resulted in the poor rating.”

“I went with my husband and we upgraded to ELITE all inclusive luxury status. It was horrible the food was inedible and mostly buffet. The Elite private restaurant was disgusting and had a very limited menu. The drinks were watered down and the plastic glasses were made for children
We only got one beach towel per person ,we didn't consider that luxury. Service was not with a smile , we tried to check out and they were very unaccomadating and rude at the front desk. When we checked into our room had no washcloths, no robes, one coffee mug, our safe didn't work they had to come twice to fix it and no glasses small enough to fit under the wall mounted alcohol dispensers. We went out of the hotel for dinner after the first two nights and paid out of pocketful our dinner. We weren't notified of our departing transportation leaving for the airport. We were also supposed to have access to a vip lounge at the airport but it didn't exist. DO NOT BELEIVE WHAT THEY ARE SELLING. The beach was beautiful that saved our vacation”

“Facts first...entrance not impressive.
Super slow check in. Even slower luggage delivery...carry your own to the room.
Drinks are good..but in super small cups..like little kid cups. You can only get two drinks at a time per person at bar. Rooms are clean and above average.
Beds are comfortable.
.
Beach is awesome...but no drink service.
Beach chairs are cloth covered.
Free snorkle and float pads. Pools are very nice. Pool chairs are vinyl padded.
.
Towel service is horrible. You get a towel card for each person in you group. Extra cards are $20 each. One towel per one card. They sign you towels out and in. Who use only one towel? Most people need onfir the seat...one for the back...one to dry off or put behind your head.
.
Staff is attentive...not nice..not rude. Very kurt. Short and to the point. No one speaks English as their first language....most are difficult to understand.
.
Restaurants are super hard to get in. Regular guests can't make a reservation. To go to the steak house you must wait in line..starting at 5:15pm...then at 6:00 they seat the first 36 tables. Everyone else gets a buzzer...only 60 buzzers per night.
Food was good...not great. Who wants to wait in line for a buzzer...not at this price.
Restaurants advertise that the are open from 6pm til 9pm. But no one gets seated after 8:10. Not at any restaurant. They want you finished by 9pm. That's kinda of sketchy. Note buffet open til 10 pm.
..
They want everyone to use the buffet.
...I think this saves them money.
The buffet, by the way is very very good.
But at the price paid...I don't want all buffet food.
.
Overall...not 5 star...3.5 star...for food
3.75 star for pool and beach. 3.5 star for hotel. No where close to 5 star.”
Riu Palace Antillas Elite Club Falls Short: Let Me Count the Ways…

“For a premium “Elite” experience, there was surprisingly little that felt elite.
- The 17th-floor hallway smelled like feet, and the carpeting looked well past its prime.
- Called the front desk for beverages and bathrobes. Neither ever arrived.
- My sister-in-law went two days without body wash despite repeated requests.
- The Elite Club restaurant welcomed us with… stale tortilla chips.
- Our Kit Kat mysteriously disappeared from the minibar. We can only wonder where it went.
- Guest Relations invited us to meet with the manager about our concerns. We showed up. The manager didn’t.
- Beautiful ocean view? Absolutely. Elite-level service? Unfortunately, no.
Aruba was wonderful, and we still enjoyed our vacation. But if you’re considering paying extra for the Elite Club experience, don’t do it.”

“The location was phenomenal. You can walk up and down the beach at all hours and feel safe. There are several places to eat and drink within walking distance.
Beach was calm and clear. No complaints. Bring a floatie! No issues finding a spot on the beach each day at different times. Staff will grab your chair and take you to a spot. Bring small bills to tip!
We had a room that had a side sea view which was fine. The bed was comfortable; the fridge was refilled upon request. It was somewhat difficult to get fresh towels if you weren't having your room cleaned. Drink the water--it is delicious! Great shower with ample hot water and pressure.
Overall, this was a great hotel for the price. I booked almost a year out and they honored their special rates 5 months later.
The atmosphere was laid back. This is not a party resort. The RUI parties were canceled when we were there since the RIU next door was closed. Pools busy all day!
The food was just okay. You can't make reservations at the restaurants and must stand in line to get a seat. The steakhouse was our favorite, but the menu is very small. We did not care for the Italian or Fusion, but you may love them.
Drinks were plentiful. Not very strong but all you need to do is ask for a stronger drink. Again, bring small bills to tip! Also bring your own insulated cup for alcohol, yes they fill, and for water to drink throughout the day.
Bring sunscreen that is reef safe.
Ladies--forget about doing your hair, seriously! It is windy all the time.”

“First time going to Aruba and first time trying the all inclusive hotel. The location was great. Our view was amazing even though it was a partial view, we got a full beautiful view from our balcony. I would say one thing about the room that we had, although it was clean, and well stocked, the one thing that was a real problem and we could do nothing about it, was this huge glass window. it was huge and it was right in our bathroom in the shower on the wall that was adjacent to where our beds and chairs and TV was . So if we had Company in our room, you could never be in the shower. although it had a privacy, glazed window treatment on it, you could still see through it. It was so bizarre. And at night the light that was a constant in the bathroom, was an annoying light that shined into our room where we were sleeping.
We constantly had to go down and get our key cards replaced, as they stopped working frequently. And apparently that’s a common problem there there were multiple people that hadto do the same thing. I’m a gluten sensitive person, so the restaurants there could have been better with that. The Italian restaurant had gluten-free pasta, which was very good. The buffet that the hotel had, was huge, the staff there was amazing. food was very good, and plenty full. But being a gluten sensitive person, the choices weren’t always there like they said it would be.I could never get gluten-free pasta or gluten-free pizza, but I was able to find plenty to keep me happy. It just was very repetitive. All in all we absolutely loved our time there, and we plan on trying this hotel at other places. The shops downstairs were great. The beach at the hotel was so beautiful, the staff that helped you with chairs and things were amazing. The drinks that you got at the swimmer bar was tasty , but it probably had about a tablespoon of alcohol in them. But we had a great time. Although it was one very busy hotel, the rooms were quiet.
We enjoyed the high-rise section shopping better than the downtown shopping. Some of it was kind of cool, but some of it was ridiculously expensive. We were at the adult, all inclusive, which was adjacent to the family, all inclusive. Which when you go into one of them, you’re allowed in both places.Again, all in all it’s a great place to go. There’s always a little quirks everywhere you go.”

“Horrible!!! From start to finish it was awful! This was our first time to Aruba and this resort came highly recommended My husband and I are the easiest people in the whole world to please when it comes to vacation and we travel a lot! This place really was TERRIBLE The service was TERRIBLE ! PEOPLE AT THE DESK rude and really unhelpful. Accommodations were FILTHY!!! I have never stayed at any type of elite service hotel and had a toilet scrub brush filled with someone else’s fecal matter left behind the toilet that stayed for a week!!! We paid for an Elite stay and we received the exact opposite. We even gave them an entire week to make our small requests like clean sheets, and things that were filthy to be cleaned . We asked them to fix the things that were dangerous and broken like lights, shower doors , televisions , and no one listened. No one cared. We even spoke with Management and put in formal complaint which is completely out of character for us and we have NOT HEARD one word back FROM ANYBODY !! I would avoid this place like the PLAGUE!!! TOTALLY GROSS AND RUINED ARUBA FOR US!”

“Have mixed feelings about this resort. Upon the check-in I did not get a room with an ocean view as it was in the reservation. The lady at the front desk tried to convince me that it was. But we could see the ocean only when leaning over the balcony rail. After I showed her the pictures of the view from the balcony on my reservation screen, I was given a different room with a full ocean view. As I spoke with other guests during the stay, I was not the only one who got the wrong room initially.
The sheets were not clean, had stains. They were replaced but the “fresh” sheets had stains as well. Two days before the end of our stay we requested the sheets to be changed and they were not. At least not the pillowcases, because I saw the same stains on them. Overall cleaning was ok.
Soundproofing is poor. When someone walks or sneezes in the hallway it feels like they are in your room.
The location is great. Beach is clean and beautiful.
Overall hotel is like 3 stars, not worth the price of over $650 a night”

“The RIU Antillas in Aruba (all inclusive adults only) is by far one of the best hotel/resorts that you could stay at. My wife and I stayed for a week in early July 2026 and have already made a reservation to stay in July 2027.
ROOM: We stayed in the Elite Club ocean front suite. The suite had 2 large balconies overlooking the ocean and pools. The suite was clean, modern, and very spacious with a large bathroom, walk in closet, and separate living and sleeping areas.
DINING: Although there are 6 dining choices for dinner, we ate at just the Atlantis (buffet style) and the Elite Club restaurant. The Elite Club restaurant was excellent ! The Atlantis restaurant changes themes every night and the choices are endless. Daniel, the chef at the Elite Club restaurant was great, both at preparing the meals and tableside conversation.
BAR/LOUNGES: Staying in the Elite Club level gives you access to the Elite Club lounge and Elite Club pool bar near a private pool area. The lounge, which has an excellent atmosphere, serves high quality drinks with top shelf alcohol. The same level of drinks are available at the private pool bar. Alejandra and Madeline in the lounge and at the pool bar are great at their jobs, have great personalities and were a joy to be around!
STAFF: Staff can make a vacation great or terrible, and the staff at the RIU Antillas makes your vacation great !!! Every encounter with hotel staff was exceptional including the cleaning staff, pool/beach staff, restaurant and lounge staff and hotel management. In addition to the previously mentioned staff, I want to give a shout out to Jose who runs a tight ship at the pool and beach, Jesus in maintenance who took care of an issue we had with the lock on our door, and Lucia with Hotel Management. Lucia can be found walking around the resort and restaurants interacting with staff and guests to make sure your stay is the best possible.
Thank you to everyone at the RIU Antillas who helped make our vacation absolutely wonderful !!”

“I stayed at Palace Antillas and, overall, I had a good time. I was actually planning on bringing my family back and visiting again in December. Up until the very end of my stay, I had nothing but positive things to say about the resort.
Unfortunately, several issues completely changed my opinion of the property and the way guests are treated.
During our stay, we found used dental floss underneath our sofa, which was extremely unpleasant and concerning from a cleanliness perspective. We also found the mattress to be very uncomfortable, making it difficult to get proper rest. These concerns were brought to attention, but they were ignored and nothing was done to address them.
The biggest disappointment came when we were leaving on Friday morning. After waiting at the airport for five hours, we found out that our flight had been canceled and we needed to extend our stay for another two days before we could return home. Since we had literally just left the resort, we decided to return and see if they could accommodate us given the circumstances.
When we walked back in, the staff, security, and employees immediately recognized us. They knew who we were and remembered us from our stay. However, when it came time to book another stay, we were treated as if we were first-time guests making a last-minute reservation. There was no effort made to help us, offer any flexibility, or show appreciation for the fact that we had just stayed there and were interested in returning.
Another concerning experience happened while we were on the beach. I booked an excursion, and there was a disagreement between two excursion businesses. During the situation, one individual who appeared to be under the influence approached the person I booked with, began pushing him, and acted extremely rude and disrespectful. The situation escalated to the point where I stepped in to try to calm things down. The individual then got in my face and acted as if he wanted to fight me.
Witnessing this type of behavior in front of guests was extremely disappointing and does not reflect well on the resort or the level of safety and professionalism visitors expect while on vacation. A first visit to Aruba should be a positive and welcoming experience, and unfortunately, this situation added to our disappointment.
To me, this is a reflection of poor customer service and poor business practices. They didn’t just lose me as a returning guest; they lost the opportunity to welcome my family and anyone I would have recommended the resort to in the future. After this experience, I will be sharing my honest feedback with others.
Compared to other resorts I’ve stayed at, including resorts in Punta Cana that also have mixed reviews, I believe a company of this size should be able to show more appreciation and provide better service to loyal guests when unexpected situations occur. I was extremely disappointed with how we were treated. There was no attempt to accommodate us, extend our stay, or find any reasonable solution.
Future guests should be aware that, unfortunately, it can feel like you are only valued while you are spending money. This experience left a very negative impression of Palace Antillas and made me feel like it reflects poorly on Aruba. The rest of the island has shown much more warmth, hospitality, and appreciation toward visitors, which made this experience even more disappointing.
I will be contacting management once I return to the United States because I believe they need to hear how this situation was handled and how it affected our overall experience.”
