“The veranda restraunt is really good. Our server Miguel can read minds I swear. He was so friendly and hospitable. The food is always fresh, and it helps having a restaurant on property so convenient. It's a really nice Hilton property.”

“We just got back from staying at Mahogany Bay. It was better than expected. The private beach was so nice and relaxing. Our room had 2 beds. The hot water in the shower didn’t get as hot as I would have liked but wasn’t too bad.
We loved having breakfast at the Farmhouse. The pool club had good food but expensive. We had a golf cart so went into town most nights.
We stayed with two teens and all had a great time and will be back”
Most exquisite stay ever!

“My wife and I crossed over via water taxi from Chetumal MX, to San Pedro Belize. We had seen Mahogany Bay Hilton Resort on social media for years and when I tell you the content doesn’t do the place justice, I mean it. Mahogany Bay Resort is nothing short of spectacular. The place is pure magic, the moment we stepped foot into the Great House(check-in lobby) we were greeted by the kindest most hospitable professionals we’ve ever encountered. We travel a lot so for us, the wow factor has become harder and harder to come by, but Mahogany Bay exceeded all expectations, and has raised the bar for all of our future destinations. The private beach was out of this world, and is genuinely the most healing, calming body of water either one of us have ever had the pleasure of being in. The food, drinks and accommodations were top tier and delicious. If you happen to have the pleasure of visiting make sure you get the fresh red snapper tacos at the private beach club(I’m craving them right now) but in all reality we didn’t have a meal that wasn’t exquisite. We will certainly be back, and soon! We love Mahogany Bay!!!”

“We loved our time here because Ivira made each morning wonderful! She was a lovely waitress at breakfast and was so lovely and welcoming.
We also loved the rum and bean! The espresso martini was fabulous!
Another great spot was the Pool Club, the food and drinks were delicious.
We had a great time taking the boat out to the Hilton beach club, the boat driver and other man on the boat were funny and wonderful! The ladies working on the island were so sweet and helpful also.
The dirty martini was not up to par, the dirty martini we ordered tasted like straight olive juice, it was undrinkable.
Elvi’s was the best dinner restaurant by far, we had the grouper dish and the lobster curry. Both were delicious.
The sushi on site was also really fresh and delicious!
We really enjoyed the fish at the hungry grouper and the man who owned it was so nice and such a good storyteller.
Overall, it was a fun stay!”

“We spent a week at this lovely property. We enjoyed it from the pick up at the pier to our departure. Everyone one was so welcoming from the bell boy (can´t remember his name) to the front desk. Special mention to Miguel at The Verandah restaurant, who was so pleasant every morning at breakfast, even when he wasn´t our server. The guys who took us to the beach club were fun and kept us entertained for the ride. The staff at the club were also friendly. We received housekeeping daily, the villas are just lovely, spacious and reminded me so much of the Caribbean with it´s design. The shower was our favorite with the amenities. If we visit Belize again, we´ll definitely be returning to this property.”

“Not a great place. Maintenance is lacking perhaps because the resort is so spread out and difficult to maintain individual wooden structures. I booked a 3 bedroom family villa. As a Hilton Diamond member, I had hoped for an upgrade to a villa with a pool but no such luck.
The good:
We did get $15/per adult per day credit to use a the different on-site restaurants. We used the credit for yogurt and coffee each morning, so I can't speak about the restaurants or the bar. Upon check-out, I had to remind the desk clerk about our daily credit and subtract it from our bill.
And when asked they unlocked the closet that held the washer and dryer.
Large water container provided for drinking water.
The bad:
Our safe didn't work. Security came and tried switching batteries but that didn't work. My husband told him to forget about it we will deal. Also, there was no bar in the primary bedroom closet to hang clothes. I contacted the front desk and said someone would come to check it out. The person stopped by while we were away. At 9pm that night, the front desk called to see if it was taken care of. Why would you call so late in the day? Maintenance isn't coming at 9pm?
The places wasn't very clean. I used my lysol wipes to clean the tables and kitchen counter. The towels were thread-bare. The primary bathroom had an extremely large tub, but no drain plug to actually use the large tub, so showers only. For a 4/5 star resort, the villa lacked key amenities: shower cap, slippers, robes, kleenex, bar soap, toiletry kit.
We were handed a map with places circled. No other help from the check in desk.
Beach club: 15 minute boat ride from the dock, but you need to reserve your spot. Beach club has a lot of lounge chairs and overwater huts. The water is about shin deep and very clear and warm. It's fine if you have little kids or like to sunbathe but it's kinda boring. No snorkeling. Food and drink offered.
Pool: nice size not as many lounge chairs. Bar close by.
Golf cart needed to get around. Too hot to walk too far. Also a lot of mosquitoes off the property.
I had high hopes for this resort. Been wanting to visit this as the pictures look great. But it's not as cool as I wanted it to be. Basically they plowed down a lot of the mangroves and built this resort on-top. Knowing what I know now, I would book a smaller place that really highlights the friendliness of the Belizean people who care about their island of Ambergris Caye.”

“Staff is amazing! Loved our concierge and all of her recommendations. Gilmer and Kimberly were both fantastic too! We stayed in a three bedroom villa. Was very roomy and spacious with a nice private pool, but definitely needed some upkeeping done. I'm sure the weather makes it difficult but could deal a little paint, doors need repair from slamming and the air conditioners were VERY cold. Overall a great experience and would stay again!”

“My husband and I had a wonderful getaway at Mahogany Bay. The staff is exceptional, and the entire resort has a laid-back, relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind.
Miguel C. took care of us at breakfast every morning, and his cheerful attitude and attentive service were a wonderful way to start each day. We also had dinner at the sushi restaurant on our first night, and it was absolutely delicious—one of our favorite meals of the trip.
The Beach Club was another highlight. Spending a day in one of the over-the-water private cabanas was such a fun and unique experience, and the beach itself was beautiful and peaceful.
From the friendly staff to the great food and relaxing amenities, we truly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Mahogany Bay to anyone looking for a relaxing Belize vacation.”

“We loved staying at the Mahogany Bay. The rooms were clean and I loved it had its own marina and beach club. We were able to get massages at the beach with a cabana over the water.
Eluevia was our waitress for breakfast and she was so sweet. We absolutely adored Alan at the front check in/bellhop. The only down side is it’s pretty far from secrets beach but we drove the golf cart there a couple of times just took about an hour.”

Quiet resort with nice private beach but..ll

“First the positives - their beach (which you take about a 15 boat ride to) was e extremely relaxing. We rented an over-the-water cabana ($60 US). Water is clear and only gets to about 4’. You can get drinks and food there p.
We had breakfast and lunch several days at restaurant in the main building. Our server on almost all occasions, Miguel, was very nice and attentive.
We ate dinners away from the resort.
Now the negatives, you get around in golf carts - the streets are very bumpy. The grounds of the hotel are mostly pebbles and sand, and they are doing construction - the seats to the golf cart get dirty! If you leave the premises to go towards town, the smell of the sargassum gets worse, in some places it was downright disgusting.
The air handler keeps the bedroom cool, but not the bathroom.
The housekeeping in our unit was not good - sinks not cleaned, counter tops not cleaned, towels were frayed, dispensers in shower were improperly installed so they did not pump.
They have a very nice outdoor pool, but no floaties or noodles for guest use.
There is no nightly entertainment at the hotel.”

Ruined Honeymoon: False Advertising & Abysmal Service (We Walked Out)
2/10

“Mahogany Bay nearly ruined our honeymoon. Avoid this place at all costs.
We booked Mahogany Bay for our honeymoon, specifically choosing a resort because we wanted a seamless, luxury experience with great amenities. Instead, this place nearly ruined our entire trip. The photos on their website are incredibly misleading and feel like total false advertising. This is absolutely not a 4.5-star resort.
The service here was nonexistent from the start. Upon check-in, the front desk and concierge handed us a map with a “general area” circled of where our room would be and sent us on our way. They offered zero help navigating the confusing maze of cottages, leaving us wandering the property for 10 minutes just trying to find our room.
To make matters worse, we were "upgraded" to a higher floor. This felt less like a perk and more like a downgrade. We had to lug four heavy suitcases up steep stairs, without an ocean view to make up for it. Word of advice: Do not accept an upgrade here; you are much better off on the ground floor.
The lack of staffing extended to the amenities. We went to the resort bar and sat there for 20 minutes without ever seeing a bartender or a single staff member. We eventually just gave up and left.
For the premium price we paid, we were genuinely shocked by the poor condition of the room. It was completely outdated and dilapidated. The shower was made of wood, highly uncomfortable, and didn't work properly.
During our stay, the power went out. Given how incredibly hot it is in San Pedro, the room became uncomfortable very quickly. When we approached the front desk to ask about it, we were shooed away and rudely told, "People have already told us, we're working on it."
The location is highly inconvenient if you want to spend any time in the heart of San Pedro. If you want to be completely secluded and isolated, this might work for you. However, we wanted an immersive Belizean experience, and this property felt cut off.
We found our stay to be so completely unacceptable that we cut our stay short and left the resort entirely. We ended up booking a local Airbnb for half the price and had a vastly superior experience.
Mahogany Bay provides zero hospitality. It felt like a poorly managed, rundown Airbnb charging luxury resort-level prices. I highly recommend that you thoroughly research local options before booking so you can support the local economy directly, rather than paying big fees to a massive corporation that doesn't care about your experience. Our local Airbnb saved our honeymoon, but Mahogany Bay nearly ruined it. Avoid this place at all costs.”

“Very poor experience. Save your money inept staff, broken things in rooms and hotel, a bad concierge and terrible overpriced food. Would not recommend. Had a very bad tour experience where I was told they would "comp my room two nights." It has now been over 8 weeks and no credit has appeared on my statement. Save your money and stay somewhere else.”
