“We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Hakone and highly recommend it for its breathtaking mountain views from our room! The hotel staff is great and went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Especially the front desk female associate/manager who really tried her best to ensure we stayed on schedule and assisted us given our taxi issues. The guest relations manager (Mr. Suzuki-san) left no stone unturned to ensure that we caught our shikansen on time. Mr. Takuya (Hotel GM) even reached out after our stay to ensure everything was good and that we reached Kyoto on time. We really appreciate his thoughtfulness. I also highly recommend the walking tour that Mr. Takuya himself provides on Tuesdays. It does require some uphill walking but very doable for folks who are active. The entire tour takes ~55mins and you get to experience exquisite gardens that are highly well maintained and have wonderful flowers! The breakfast was delightful like all the Hyatt properties that we have stayed at during this Japan trip. We will definitely be back!”

  • Amazing hotel, nice and relaxing

“We had an amazing stay at the Hakone Hyatt Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made a fantastic impression. They were clearly proud of both the hotel and the surrounding area. The check-in process was smooth and efficient—we were seated, given a map, and walked through everything we needed to know, including local attractions, transport options, and the hotel shuttle service. The onsen was also explained clearly, and we were then personally guided to the lift, which was a nice touch. That evening, we went down for dinner and our welcome drinks. The staff were warm and engaging, especially with our children—they took the time to chat with them and make them feel included. The meals were excellent and a real highlight of the stay. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, even helping our children with their food and showing them around. It made the experience feel very welcoming and family-friendly. The onsen was clean, relaxing, and well maintained. Our room was spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of four. The only minor downside was the shower setup. At 6'2" (187 cm), the shower head was mounted too low and sprayed at shoulder height, and the hose could have been longer. A small adjustment here would make a big difference for taller guests. Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations and delivered exactly what we hoped for from a Hyatt hotel. It really stood out—especially when compared to our next stay at Mt Fuji Speedway Hotel, which could learn a lot from Hakone about delivering a great guest experience”

  • Amazing resort

“The Hyatt Regency Hakone is a beautiful resort that gives you a great location to visit Hakone . The shuttle service is extremely helpful (needs to be reserved in advance) for Odawara. But from Gora station you can also take the funicular to Kami Gora station and it's a 5 minute walk making it so easy to access. The service is impeccable and the staff are just lovely. Also if you are lucky you can catch a glance of Mount Fuji in the back on a clear day. We also enjoyed the onsen. Overall a wonderful stay!!!”

  • Very comfortable base and great location for sight seeing

“Clean and comfortable hotel in Hakone, slightly difficult to access - instructions given to us were either to call for the shuttle or walk from Kami Gora cable car station and as we did not have luggage choose to walk the five minutes down the road (it was all downhill so an easy walk, would not have wanted to walk up!). Hotel offered everything we expected from Hyatt and our one night stay was very pleasant. Only slight gripe is that the slippers and sandals provided do not work with European size 48 feet! The yukatans provided were of appropriate size.”

“The location of the hotel is nice and quiet. On clear days you can see Mt. Fuji in the East wing hallway windows. We were upgraded to deluxe rooms and the rooms were HUGE! We enjoyed welcome snacks and drinks at the Living Room. Buffet breakfast at the restaurant had a lot of choices and is delicious. The hotel provides shuttles on demand to and from Gora and Sounzan Stations. It makes starting at the tourist attractions easy. They are very accommodating as one night they dropped us directly at the restaurant near Gora Station. Do make sure you secure a taxi or be able to walk back if you are not able to make the last shuttle. We were stranded and both my Uber and Go apps were not able to find a taxi. I frantically called the hotel for help and Kobayashi tried to find me a taxi. Ultimately Mr. Hirose came to save us. My elderly mother was in no shape to walk back to the hotel. I am very grateful for the care they shown. My father forgot his iPad the next day and the hotel arrange for it to be dropped off to me at Odawara Station. Oh, the hotel does pick up and drop off at Odawara Stations also. It makes getting to Hakone from Tokyo very easy! Oh the onsen was nice and clean also.”

  • Most picturesque hotel

“This hotel is stunning - it’s a short walk from Gora station (with a little bit of an uphill climb) - it’s fairly easy to get to. The hotel is nestled in greenery - it’s very peaceful and serene. Food is excellent - absolutely loved the Omakase - must do this while staying here. The hotel has a private onsen - it’s a great way to peacefully experience an onsen while in Japan. Staff is very warm and friendly. Would definitely stay here again whenever I plan to go to Hakone!”

“1] Location, if you enjoy remote this is where you want to book otherwise book elsewhere. 2] Atmosphere, of the hotel is quiet & can with a goo 3] Room, was clean & large 73 sq/m with a lot of good quality personal amenities. Very comfortable with no-one stepping on top of the other, however its layout not its furnishings are somewhat dated so it is wasted space and could be more functional. 4] Value, if it weren't for the Onsen being included in the cost, the value for the cost would probably be too high. The Onsen makes up for the age & sparsity of the hotel. 5] Staff, outstanding! Very welcoming, hospitable & accommodating. 6] Cleanliness, rooms, lobby, dining area, Onsen, etc., all very clean! 7] Noise Level, incredibly quiet! No road noise, no rowdy guests, etc., A great getaway! 8] Service, great staff = great service (bullet point 5 above). Free shuttle service to/from Odawara train station, however if you get car sick easily definitely don't use the shuttle service take the train. 9] Amenities, outstanding! Great in room amenities, Onsen was amazing, Dining - definitely purchase the breakfast pack - wonderful variety of food & great taste. On a side note, the only dinner option we ate was the LO option and it was slightly disappointing. There are also Japanese and French restaurants options for dinner but we ate some great Japanese food prior to coming to Hakone so opted to pass on this option and the French option didn't raise our interest. Overall, highly recommend at least one visit if you're into remote and isolated. If you're a snacker, pick up snacks before getting to the hotel because there is no easily walkable convenience stores or restaurants.”

“Shout out to Nanaka at reception for the amazing job she did to help us sort through some logistical challenges to get to the Shinkansen station upon departure. She helped us think through the alternatives and got us on the Hyatt shuttle at the correct time. The rooms are spacious and clean. It's worth paying a bit extra for the mountain view so you can watch the sunrise and drink a coffee from your enclosed balcony.”

“We went to Hakone during our stay in Tokyo. Easy to take the romance train. The hotel is comfortably appointed. It is the staff that makes this property so special. Nice Onsen bath experience. Spa offered one of the best facials my wife has had. Food is good quality and abundant. Convenient shuttle to the cable car going to Mt Fuji.”

“An exceptional stay — so peaceful and restorative. The property is tucked into a beautiful, hilly area, perfect for anyone who enjoys a good hike or simply wants to be surrounded by nature. Transport links make it easy to get around, but it still feels wonderfully secluded. The onsen was a highlight, the food was incredible, and the rooms were enormous. Staff were consistently welcoming and attentive. The only thing that would make it truly unbeatable is the addition of a gym.”

“I would disagree with those who commented that the rooms in this hotel were old & needed to be renovated. I was in room 335. The room was still in satisfactory condition. Moreover, staff were all polite & courteous as expected of Japanese culture. A good example is Mr Katsuyuki Hirose, an asst. manager, who not only warmly greeted us upon our arrival but also assisted us with our luggage to the check in area. To my surprise, he was the same person who brought my luggage after I have entered & examined my room. Later, I saw his welcome note with complimentary 3 sweet oranges in the table of the sun room. This indeed is a nice gesture which speaks well of this Hyatt property. I would certainly come back again with my whole family.”
