“Park Hyatt is a great gem in the Gion district. Situated in a charming and picturesque area it was a wonderful stay for the last leg of our Japan visit. It is a bit farther from the main parts of Kyoto where restaurants were open later for dinner, but everything was a quick cab ride away. For lunch there are some great hidden restaurants to explore which were walkable from the hotel. There were also some great cultural sites within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself was fantastic, with very comfortable and modern rooms and great amenities. Also loved the great views as we made our way to and from our room, but what stands out the most is the impeccable and friendly service. Ending our Japan visit at the PH was perfect as it gave us the opportunity to unwind, and relax before heading home. Highly recommend staying here!”

“Park Hyatt Kyoto is truly an exceptional property. The location is great and every part of the property is stunning.
The best part of our stay was the personalized level of service we received from the entire staff. We felt at home and welcomed by everyone we came in contact with.
I have a gluten allergy and the team made sure there was a gluten free personalized menu waiting for me at breakfast every single morning, and even sent a gluten free cake to our room to celebrate a special occasion.
I also want to give a special shoutout to Emi and the concierge team, who are truly the gold standard when it comes to hospitality. I arrived feeling sick and they helped me locate an English-speaking doctor within an hour of getting off the train in Kyoto. They also made sure a local omakase restaurant would cater to our tastes as we are a bit less adventurous but still wanted to have a Michelin star sushi experience.
We cannot recommend this hotel enough and look forward to staying here again in the future.”

I woke each morning to breathtaking views of the iconic Yasaka Pagoda (Higashiyama Pagoda), one of Kyoto's most beloved and recognizable landmarks. What makes this location even more remarkable is its accessibility—the charming streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, lined with boutique shops, traditional tea houses, and local artisan stores, are literally steps away. Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Hokanji Temple, and Kodai-ji Temple are all within a short walk, allowing you to experience the city's spiritual heart without the crowds that typically overwhelm daytime visitors.
The strategic location allowed me to explore these cultural treasures in the early morning before hordes of tourists arrive—a privilege that cannot be overstated. Returning to the peaceful elegance of the hotel after navigating Kyoto's bustling tourist districts felt like coming home to a serene refuge.

Speaking of which—a detail that impressed me tremendously and that I must highlight: the housekeeping team proactively refills the water tank for the in-room espresso machine. This seemingly small detail exemplifies the level of attentiveness throughout the property. For contrast, during my stay at the Four Seasons Tokyo, no such service was offered, and more egregiously, they charged a service fee simply to hand me a bottle of water—a practice that felt both mercenary and entirely out of step with true hospitality. Park Hyatt Kyoto charges no service fees for any in-room accommodations or services, which reflects a philosophy of genuine hospitality rather than nickel-and-diming guests.

The property is stunning, with an atmosphere that perfectly reflects the elegance and tranquility of Kyoto. Its location couldn’t be better, tucked into one of the city’s most historic and picturesque neighborhoods, making it feel as though you’re living within Kyoto rather than simply visiting it.
What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. Every interaction with the staff was warm, genuine, and thoughtful. Their hospitality wasn’t just professional, it felt heartfelt. They consistently went above and beyond to make our family feel welcomed, and many of the unforgettable moments from our trip were possible because of their care and attention.

I was incredibly grateful to receive a room upgrade, and the view from my room was simply breathtaking. Waking up to the beauty of Kyoto each morning was an experience I’ll never forget. The hotel also made my birthday celebration feel truly special with a thoughtful birthday cake and other wonderful touches that made the occasion even more memorable.
What truly sets this property apart is its exceptional team. A heartfelt thank you to Billy Koo for his warm hospitality, and to Ivan, who personally welcomed me at check-in. He gave me a wonderful tour of my upgraded room, walked me through all of its features, and surprised me with the beautiful birthday cake waiting inside. His attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm made me feel at home from the very first moment.
Another unforgettable experience was the complimentary garden tour led by the incredibly kind Spanish staff member. Even though heavy rain began about 15 minutes into the tour, he continued sharing fascinating stories about the gardens and the rich history of the property with so much passion and knowledge. His enthusiasm never faded despite the weather, and it became one of the highlights of my stay.
The location is simply unmatched. Nestled in Kyoto’s historic Higashiyama district, the hotel blends seamlessly into one of the city’s most iconic and culturally significant neighborhoods. Walking through the beautifully preserved streets before and after the crowds, then returning to the peaceful elegance of the hotel, was an experience unlike any other.

The service is extraordinary. Every member of the staff was genuinely warm, gracious, and seemed to anticipate our needs before we even asked. Nothing was too much trouble, and their attention to detail made us feel truly cared for throughout our stay.
The hotel itself is the definition of serenity. Step outside and you’re immersed in the energy and crowds of Higashiyama, but the moment you return to the hotel, it’s like entering another world. It is calm, peaceful, and beautifully designed—a true refuge where we looked forward to returning after a day of sightseeing.
One unexpected advantage is that most of the shops and restaurants in the surrounding area close by around 6:00 p.m. As a result, the neighborhood becomes wonderfully quiet in the evening. Even better, by waking up early each morning, I had the historic streets almost entirely to myself. Walking through the empty lanes before the crowds arrived was one of the highlights of our trip.
