“We stayed at W Maldives from 1–4 August 2026 for a girls’ trip, and it was truly one of the happiest and most unforgettable holidays we have ever had. W Maldives is undeniably beautiful — from the crystal-clear blue ocean and stunning overwater villas to the incredible coral reefs, marine life, sunsets and unforgettable encounters with sea turtles and stingrays. However, what made our stay truly exceptional was the people. Every member of the team we encountered was warm, friendly, professional and genuinely caring. Many of them remembered our names, greeted us with sincere smiles and were always ready to help whenever we needed anything. The service never felt mechanical; it felt personal and heartfelt. I would especially like to recognise and thank the wonderful people who made our stay so memorable. A Warm Welcome from the Very Beginning Our W Maldives experience started while we were waiting for our seaplane at W Lounge. A gentleman assisted us with our check-in and patiently provided us with a lot of useful information about the resort. Unfortunately, we did not manage to get his name, but I remember him mentioning that he had many years of experience working with seaplane transfers. His professionalism, knowledge and attentive service immediately made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. It was a wonderful first impression and the perfect start to our holiday. Ameen — Our Wonderful Butler From the moment we arrived on the island, our Butler, Ameen, made us feel incredibly welcome. He personally showed us around the resort and introduced us to the different areas of the island. I had also requested a birthday surprise for one of my friends, and Ameen made sure everything was beautifully arranged, including the decorations and birthday cake. He truly delivered what he promised, and the surprise was a complete success. It was such a special moment for the three of us, and the cake was delicious too! Thank you, Ameen, for your thoughtfulness and for helping us create such a beautiful memory. Our Beautiful Overwater Villas On our first night, we stayed in Superior Overwater Villa 204, and the moment we stepped onto the terrace and saw the crystal-clear blue ocean, we were completely amazed. The overwater net was also perfect for relaxing and taking photos! The following day, Phoebe kindly helped us with our room change to Premier Overwater Villa 226, and we were absolutely delighted. The villa offered beautiful sunset views, and the house reef right in front of us made snorkelling incredibly convenient. There were so many corals and marine creatures to discover, and we were even lucky enough to see stingrays from our villa several times. The natural beauty of W Maldives was just as incredible after sunset. At night, we could simply look up and see a sky filled with countless stars. On some nights, we were even lucky enough to see shooting stars passing across the sky, and on a clear night, we could see the Milky Way. Standing by the ocean, surrounded by complete tranquillity, while looking up at the stars and the Milky Way was absolutely breathtaking. It was one of those moments when we simply stopped, looked up and felt incredibly lucky to be there. ✨🌌 Thank you, Phoebe, for being so helpful and accommodating. Your assistance made our stay even more enjoyable. Fish — A Beautiful and Memorable Dining Experience On our first evening, we had dinner at Fish, and it was such a wonderful experience. The fusion seafood concept was creative, beautifully presented and delicious. The setting was elegant and romantic, surrounded by the beautiful ocean, making it a perfect place for a special occasion or honeymoon dinner. We would also like to thank Ara, whom we met at both Fish and Kitchen. Seeing her in the evening at Fish and again the next morning at Kitchen, always with the same warm smile and welcoming attitude, really stood out to us. Thank you, Ara, for making us feel so welcome. Fire — One of the Highlights of Our Stay We absolutely loved Fire! We had steak there on our second evening, and both the food and service were outstanding. A special thank you to Dream, Saneen, Arsham and Kadex. We had the opportunity to chat with them, and they were all incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. We enjoyed Fire so much that we decided to return again on our final evening. In fact, during the day, we were already talking about how much we were looking forward to going back! There was also one occasion when I accidentally ordered my steak more cooked than I preferred. I felt bad about asking, but the team kindly offered to prepare another one for me. Their priority was simply to make sure I enjoyed my meal and left happy. That level of genuine care and professionalism really impressed me. They were not simply serving food — they genuinely cared about the entire guest experience. Shane — A Truly Meaningful Gift A very special thank you to Food & Beverage Manager Shane, who surprised us with a beautiful sea turtle piece of jewellery on our final day. This gift meant so much to us because one of the most unforgettable moments of our trip was meeting Bob, the sea turtle. The gift became more than just a souvenir — it is now a meaningful reminder of the wonderful memories we created at W Maldives. Thank you, Shane, for such a thoughtful and precious gesture. We will treasure it. Executive Chef Karen — A Truly Special Surprise A very special thank you to Executive Chef Karen. On our final evening at Fire, he asked whether we had experienced the dolphin cruise. We told him we had, and he casually said that he would bring some dolphins for us to see. We honestly didn’t expect anything from it, but the next morning at breakfast, he actually surprised us by bringing us to see the dolphins! He even personally prepared a beautiful dolphin-themed cupcake for us. We were so surprised and touched that he remembered our conversation and turned it into such a beautiful moment. It was such a thoughtful gesture and one of our favourite memories from the entire trip. Thank you, Karen, for making our final morning so magical. ❤️🐬 Shamaan Shareef — Exceptional Care Until the Very End Even after leaving the island, the wonderful service continued. When we arrived at Malé Airport, Shamaan Shareef welcomed us and accompanied us to the airline counter to assist with our check-in. What impressed us most was that he did not simply leave after assisting us. He patiently waited outside until we had successfully completed the check-in process and passed through Immigration before leaving. His dedication and sense of responsibility made us feel safe and genuinely cared for right until the very end of our journey. Thank you, Shamaan, for going the extra mile. To the Entire W Maldives Team Finally, we would like to thank everyone whose names we may not have had the chance to learn — the W Lounge team, reception team, butlers, housekeeping, restaurant teams, chefs, F&B team and everyone working behind the scenes. Every single person played a part in making our stay special. Of course, we will always remember the beautiful overwater villas, the crystal-clear ocean, coral reefs, incredible sunsets, stars, the Milky Way, stingrays and our unforgettable encounter with Bob the sea turtle. But above all, we will remember the people. The warmth, kindness and genuine care of the W Maldives team made us feel relaxed, comfortable and truly welcomed. They made our girls’ trip feel personal and special. For us, that is what true luxury hospitality means. “This was our second visit, and somehow, it felt even more magical than the first. The overwater villas are absolutely breathtaking, the cuisine is world-class, and the service remains the finest we have ever encountered. The vibrant house reef was a daily highlight, gifting us with unforgettable swims alongside turtles. Our deepest gratitude goes to the entire W team for curating yet another perfect getaway. A special shout-out to Salim, who not only made our trip incredibly memorable but also ensured we felt completely safe in the water and on the sand—and alongside the Loss Prevention team, he orchestrated a jaw-dropping surprise for our boys. Chef Niwantha and the Guest Experience team outdid themselves with a stunning birthday cake for our son. Mark, your genuine warmth and energy made every day pure fun; Ajid, your mocktails and popsicles were the ultimate tropical treat; and Shayne, your meticulous attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond truly touched us. Lastly, Ibrahim made the transfer from Malé Airport feel seamless and stress-free. We are already counting down the days until we return!”

“**A Truly Exceptional Anniversary Stay at W Maldives** My wife and I are travelling through several Marriott properties in the Maldives to celebrate our 20th anniversary. As a longtime Marriott loyalist and Ambassador Elite member, I have experienced many excellent properties over the years—but W Maldives has set an extraordinarily high bar for the St. Regis and the new JW Marriott to follow. From the moment we arrived in Malé, we were treated like royalty. The transfer to the seaplane terminal was seamless, and the flight itself was comfortable and efficient. Travellers should simply be aware that luggage exceeding the total allowance of 25 kg per person is charged separately, which was not an issue for us. Then, from the moment our seaplane touched down at the resort, utopia began. We were welcomed by team members representing departments throughout the hotel—from housekeeping and the Whatever/Whenever ambassadors to the executive chef and activities coordinator. It was an exceptional introduction to the resort and immediately made us feel genuinely valued. We have stayed at 12 W properties around the world, and the service here has been, by far, the best we have experienced. Every team member we have encountered has greeted us by name, recognised my Ambassador status and made us feel like celebrities. The service is warm, personal and remarkably consistent. We are staying in overwater villa 226, which is in an excellent position. Although it is a longer walk from some parts of the resort, there is never any shortage of buggies available to take you wherever you need to go. The villa is enormous, beautifully equipped and impeccably maintained. Housekeeping has consistently gone well beyond our expectations. The dining has also been outstanding. At SIP, we enjoyed tapas and sundowners accompanied by magnificent views and superb service. Dinner at FISH was another highlight. The lobster tank creates a unique setting, the seafood was exceptionally fresh and the meal was excellent. The knowledgeable sommelier recommended a wine pairing that worked beautifully. He also suggested purchasing a bottle that could follow us between the resort’s different restaurants—an excellent-value option and a thoughtful touch. At FIRE, we attended the Maldivian Independence Day beach barbecue. The selection was extensive, the food was expertly prepared and the service was once again exceptional. Breakfast at KITCHEN is a buffet to die for, and the complimentary breakfast benefit for Ambassador members makes the years of loyalty feel especially worthwhile. We also enjoyed an excellent à la carte dinner there. There is no shortage of memorable activities. The manta-ray snorkelling excursion was an amazing experience, and the resort’s house reef is excellent for snorkelling. My wife has completed three dives so far: a house-reef refresher and two boat dives, including a wreck dive. I went deep-sea fishing at a fish aggregating device, which was another memorable outing. We also visited the private island of Gaathafushi for a sunset experience with Champagne and canapés. It was magical and is something we would highly recommend. Our hostess, Faye, has been exceptional and never seems to sleep! The WhatsApp service is incredibly convenient and makes arranging everything feel effortless and seamless. There are simply too many wonderful team members to mention individually. Suffice it to say that absolutely everyone we have encountered has contributed to making this an unforgettable stay. We still have two days remaining, with the Jet Ski Blue Water Experience, more snorkelling and a little well-earned rest and relaxation ahead of us. This review may therefore need an update—but already, W Maldives has delivered one of the finest resort experiences we have ever had. More to follow, with two more Marriott resorts still to come—but they will have a very difficult act to follow.”

“Very small islands and we were unlucky with the weather it was windy and raining and no activities to do but we really appreciate once we mentioned this the staff took it up and offered rain day activities , the resort is beautiful , food is the best I had in Maldives , super fresh food , very beautiful spa , fun workouts and amazing staff and sea life! “From May 15th to May 20th, My husband and I went to W Maldives to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. We booked Superior Overall Water Villa facing lagoon. The beautiful Tiffany blue colour of the lagoon is the most amazing sea I have ever seen! Also W’s excellent service impressed us deeply. Our butler or more accurately our whatever/whenever agent Aiham and Ameen provided excellent services to us.👍❤️Once we checked in, Aiham created a group in WhatsApp. Whatever we needed,we just sent message through WhatsApp and they replied immediately every time. Furthermore, at the night of our anniversary, they and their colleagues decorated our bed beautifully, played drums, sang and danced to celebrate our anniversary. We are really so touched and happy! What a wonderful anniversary! We will remember forever!Thanks Aiham and Ameen for this amazing arrangement! The food in all restaurants is delicious! And the services of all W colleagues are excellent. Their smiles are warm and sincere. Everyone remembered our names and our 31st anniversary! At the anniversary night, the chef specially wrote “happy Anniversary ❤️” on the plate of the desert. We are really moved🫶🌹 W has the best house reef so it is very convenient for us to go snorkelling. Just at the hotel, we can easily see the wonderful sea world, such as coral, baby shark,sea turtle, manta ray and many beautiful fishes! W’s amazing view, very convenient snorkelling, delicious food and most importantly the excellent services focusing on every detail really impress us deeply! “Our first trip to the Maldives was also our honeymoon, and we truly enjoyed our stay at W Maldives. We spent 4 amazing days here, and everything was beautiful and memorable. A very big thank you to Ameen for personally assisting us with so many things during our stay. He was extremely kind, helpful, and made our experience even more special. When we arrived, Ameen and a lovely lady from the team gave us an island tour and explained everything very well. Even though we were still a little confused at first, we enjoyed exploring the island by walking around and discovering everything ourselves. A special thanks as well to Chef Sreejith, Chef Anil, and the entire kitchen team for making our dinners so special. As vegetarians, we really appreciated the customized food prepared for us with so much care and effort. They spent time understanding our preferences and made every meal delicious and memorable. We also met Staney (not sure if the spelling is correct) from the Food & Beverage team, and the service was very good and friendly. The housekeeping team was also excellent throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the SIP Sunset Bar — the sunset views and atmosphere were amazing. The spa experience was always excellent and very relaxing. The floating breakfast was another beautiful and memorable experience during our honeymoon. Even though the weather was rainy during the last two days, we still enjoyed every moment of our stay. The resort is small, cute, peaceful, and perfect for couples. A special mention to the buggy drivers as well — they were always quick, friendly, and ready to help. Many times they came to pick us up even before we requested a buggy, which showed great hospitality and care. Our overwater villa was amazing, the hospitality was excellent, and the kitchen experience was one of the best parts of our trip because of Chef Sreejith. Thank you again, Ameen , Sreejith and everyone at W Maldives. We hope to see you all again soon!”
My First Maldives Trip and It Was Beyond Perfect

“I had an amazing experience at W Maldives and honestly it was one of the best trips I’ve ever had. From the moment we landed at the airport until the day we left everything was smooth and perfectly organized. The team took care of us from arrival to departure and made the whole experience feel easy and stress free. We stayed in both the beach villa and the overwater villa and both were incredible. The beach villa was very relaxing with direct access to the sand and a lot of privacy. The overwater villa was something else completely, waking up to the ocean and stepping straight into the water is an experience I won’t forget. The activities at the resort were great and added a lot of fun to our stay. There are plenty of options whether you want to relax or do something more active. What really made this trip special was the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and genuinely caring. You can tell they really want you to have a great time. Also a big thank you to the all staff for kindness and attention to guests, it really makes a difference. This was my first time in the Maldives and it was unforgettable thanks to this amazing team. I would definitely come back again.”

“I rarely give 5 stars because I dont think everyone deserves it. . Every now and then a property shines like a diamond and rightfully deserves it, The W Maldives has truly earned top marks. The property is newly renovated but that’s not the reason they get 5 stars. Ive been to many luxury properties in the world where you walk in and are WOWED by what you see but as you stay longer, the physical beauty around you diminish as the overall experience doesn’t match. Im also not going to talk about the natural beauty of this Island, there is a reason it was voted number 1 house reef, Most picturesque resort etc etc. All that is TRUE no fake news No photoshopping. Lets talk about what really sets W above the competition. From the moment you get picked up from MLE airport by the staff (Cindy and Abdullah) where they whisk you away to the private lounge waiting for your transfer to the very end of the journey where Abdullah pulled extra strings in the lounge and in the airport to make sure we experience a worry and hassle free departure it was truly a remarkable experience from start to finish. I think its important to mention names because although the service is outstanding in general there really are a few people that provide special touches that catapulted this property to next level. I have been to the Maldives 6 times and 4 times at the W because the people there make the difference. It always felt like being with friends and family, it felt like home. I realize that in all the aspects of my stay in this property, there have always been a memorable experience because I connected with someone who made it happen, I call these “MY PEEPS” Let’s start with pre-arrival. I have been communicating with Bianca from reservation via email for months. She and Her team responds quickly, clearly and efficiently. Bianca’s patience and flexibility as we navigate changes for months was remarkable. Upon arrival Aiham gave us a warm welcome since it’s my partners first time, and off to our room 215 which was absolutely WOW. Aiham and Hadhy are my front office PEEPS. Jumbe is the guy who takes care of our room twice a day. I have never met anyone who takes so much pride in his work and does it with a huge smile every day. I am a clean freak and very meticulous in how my room is kept and Jumbe gets the gold star. We rarely stay in the room, we pretty much stay in the common beach from sunrise to sunset (Literally). Mark and his team makes sure that our beds are ready and our ice cold drink is served every time. Special shout out to Kamal who really made our beach experience enjoyable…Christian, maybe its time to convert Kamal from temp to regular😊 I really enjoyed Arti’s yoga classes. It was very relatable and effective for all skill levels. Mark is their manager and he also checks to make sure we are taken care of, and we were. But what really was the insurmountable task is our food requirements. We have a strict diet of no refined sugar, no seed oils, no msg, no processed food, etc . This is where the rubber meets the road. Not even the 4 seasons catered to all our needs but the W stepped in a big way. They listened, collaborated and delivered every single day. The breakfast is already top notch but they gave us what we requested and how it should be prepared. This is a gigantic feat and even if the other aspects of this resort were mediocre which they are not, I would still have given them 5 stars for passing this rigid service test. This wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the dream team… Siska, Ara, Sunny, Chef Wasanta and Chef Bhakka and my Thai Girl – Dream. They were not just serving food to satisfy our health and gastronomy they were engaging us with stories, laughter and so much more No wonder we spend almost 2 hours every day at Kitchen. All my PEEPS were outstanding but the MVP award goes to Honda (ALI). Year after year he has proven to be the leader of this team. I even mentioned to Shane and Kamlesh that they need a training program and call it HOW TO BE HONDA. When someone does their job well they meet expectations but when someone anticipates your needs and delivers it consistently then they far exceeds expectations that’s Honda. Year after year his service excellence is exemplary. This is not so much a review but more a letter of thanks and gratitude to these people who have made our vacation extra special. These frontliners are the real heroes of this resort and the greatest complement in the service industry other than a tip is the acknowledgement of a job well done. Take a well-deserved bow W Maldives, I hope you will never be complacent and will continue to strive for excellence. Till we meet again!”

The resort has a calm and beautiful atmosphere, making every moment feel relaxing and enjoyable. There was a great variety of food, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Dining here was always something to look forward to, especially at Kitchen restaurant where we had a wonderful time. The underwater experience was one of the best parts of the trip. Snorkeling in the clear water and seeing the marine life was incredible. We also spent time at the pool and wet bar, which were perfect places to enjoy the day and unwind. At night, the island becomes even more charming. Walking around with all the lights around the pathways created such a lovely and peaceful feeling. A huge thank you to Ameen from the Front Desk for his outstanding hospitality. He was always there to assist us, arranged buggy rides whenever needed, helped organize our activities, and kindly took photos for our group. He added a personal touch to our holiday and made us feel very well looked after. Watching the sunset at Sip Sip was another highlight of the stay — absolutely stunning and something we will always remember. This resort offers the perfect mix of comfort, beauty, and warm service. We left with amazing memories and would happily return again.”

“Our stay at W Maldives was nothing short of exceptional. We stayed in a two-bedroom overwater lagoon villa, and from the moment we arrived, everything felt effortless, luxurious, and genuinely memorable. The villa itself was incredible—spacious, beautifully designed, and with an amazing deck and living area that we made full use of. It was also impeccably serviced, with daily minibar replenishment (non-alcoholic drinks), and we loved discovering the little “sweet spots” around the island where you could grab extra drinks on the go—such a thoughtful touch that really enhances the experience and isn’t often talked about. The food was honestly the best we’ve had on any island. Every meal was a highlight, and what stood out most was how accommodating the team was. Two members of our group are gluten-free, and it was handled so easily, with plenty of options—including fresh bread every night. A special mention to the food and beverage manager, who even had the kitchen prepare Sri Lankan pancakes for us as a surprise—one of our absolute favourites. We packed our stay with activities and loved every one of them—from snorkeling the house reef (which is fantastic) to a cooking class, dolphin spotting and snorkeling trip, swimming with nurse sharks, high tea, and even a floating breakfast. A huge highlight for our group was the diving. The captains and crew were outstanding, delivering truly exceptional experiences—including a night dive and a “lucky” dive where we encountered manta rays, something we had hoped for but knew was never guaranteed. It made the whole experience even more special. What truly made the trip, though, was the service. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and everything was handled with warmth and ease. Our assigned butler, Aitte, made the entire stay seamless and stress-free—always one step ahead and incredibly attentive. We’d also like to thank all the kitchen and service staff—everyone we interacted with was genuinely lovely. And a big shoutout to the Waves team—Ben, Pinky, the “handsome man” (sorry we didn’t catch your name!), and the rest of the crew—who made all our water activities smooth, fun, and easy to enjoy. This was an unforgettable stay, and truly one of the best island experiences we’ve ever had. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.”

“The hotel left the best impressions. The staff is friendly and to the point — they solve issues quickly. The service is pleasant, attentive, but not intrusive. The food was excellent: a very diverse cuisine, including European, Asian, and Indian options — you can try something new every day. The breakfast selection is especially large, but lunches and dinners don't disappoint either. A special highlight is the coral reef right off the shore. You don't need to take a boat anywhere — just put on a mask and swim. There are so many fish — bright, large — and we saw turtles several times; they came quite close. On top of that, the hotel has plenty of entertainment and activities, including paddle. Overall, a great option for a varied and enjoyable vacation.”

“Our second time at W Maldives, and it’s even more beautiful post‑renewal! This stay was extra special because it was our honeymoon and also my birthday, so it felt even more memorable. The amazing reef is snorkeling heaven, and the food was fantastic—especially the FISH restaurant, where the whole team was amazing. We highly recommend the nurse shark snorkeling tour—it was safe and well‑organized. The W Maldives also offered daily gym workout session, which I joined and really enjoyed; it was a great way to stay active while on holiday. Our room was cleaned very well every day, and there was a lovely turndown service every night, which made everything feel extra special and comfortable. The beach and pool area always looked spotless as well. Special extra shoutouts to John Firaash, who was absolute standout. John is one of the most genuinely caring and thoughtful persons we’ve ever met. The last time we met at W Maldives was 2023, glad to have reunited since then. He took incredible care of us from breakfast (the kitchen) to dinner (at FISH) with heartfelt surprises: fresh‑picked flowers, printed our favorite Pikachus on our table and dessert, and a personalized painted souvenir that made our hearts smile. Mei Chun at FISH also took great care of us at dinner. The front office team, especially the colleague who had worked in Macau before (sorry that we don’t remember his name) impressed us with their warm welcome and island/room tour. One small note: we’d love to try more local Maldivian‑style cuisine next time—there were a lot more Asian dishes this visit compared to the last time we came (haha, still delicious though!). We’ll definitely be back—W Maldives made our honeymoon and birthday truly unforgettable!”
