Hi 👋 my experience here was very good. The attention we got from our UVC Concierge Isasti Alberto Juarez was amazing ! He was checking on us everyday to see what we needed what issues we were having and how to solve them the best that he could. We also had a chef Erick from carnival cafe buffet in the mornings who treated us amazing. He went above and beyond our expectations. Anything we needed he was the guy. From the perfected area around the 6x floor the only issue was that we didn’t get the nightly set up routine 3 days out of the 6 nights we were there. That was my only issue.
Guests praised the staff for being kind, helpful, and ensuring care for their needs.

Wedding and Vacation

“We had our wedding at Dreams/Secrets, and we truly could not have asked for a better experience! We had a group of about 50 family members ranging in age from 3 to 70, and this resort was perfect for everyone. We loved that our guests had the option to stay on either the Dreams or Secrets side depending on what they preferred.
Our wedding coordinator, Celeste, was absolutely wonderful. One of the best parts of the entire experience was how much the hotel took care of for us. Planning a destination wedding can feel overwhelming, but they made the process so easy and allowed us to truly enjoy our special day.
We took a leap of faith because we had never visited the resort before our wedding. We chose it based on recommendations and pictures, and honestly, the pictures don't even do this place justice! It was absolutely beautiful.
We also loved the location. Being in the city gave us the opportunity to leave the property for excursions, shopping, and exploring, while still feeling extremely safe. Everyone we encountered was so welcoming, kind, and helpful.
Our stay was wonderful, our wedding was absolutely beautiful, and the food and accommodations were fantastic. From our family members to our wedding guests, everyone had an amazing time.
We are so thankful we took that leap of faith and chose Dreams/Secrets for such an important moment in our lives. We would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a beautiful destination wedding or vacation!”
Another fun stay at Dreams Vallarta Bay

“We've always loved Dreams resorts and Vallarta Bay is no exception. The proximity to the airport is a nice perk. The beach is nice though has some really rocky areas. We have noticed some cutback since the Hyatt acquisition - the room service menu is much smaller (really disappointed we couldn't start our day with chilaquiles in the room). The snacks/mini bar restock in the preferred rooms don't seem as robust.
Most importantly, however, the service remains impressive! Carlos provided thoughtful and attentive butler service in the preferred lounge. Jorge was always really engaged with my son during breakfast at Carnival buffet. Emilio kept drinks flowing at the pool. And Carlos provided excellent service in the cabana. Finally Oliver and Benito provided a great send off lunch at Carnival before our trip back to the airport.”

Dreams at Vallarta Bay, why haven't we visited sooner!?

“If you want to unwind and relax with no worries, please come to visit Dreams at Vallarta Bay! We had an excellent time there. The staff were all wonderful to work with. The vibe is chill and relaxed and the amenities and restaurant options are top notch, too! While it's not as wild and crazy as Cancun, no worries, there are still events and activities that fill in the spaces of time between any tours and activities outside the resort, too. We had a great time at this resort and will come back again hopefully soon!”
Disappointing Experience- Didn't live up to the photos online

“Our stay at this resort was incredibly disappointing, and unfortunately, there were multiple issues that made it very difficult to enjoy what was supposed to be a relaxing family vacation.
The pools were so overcrowded that getting a chair became an early-morning competition. My husband would wake up around 7:00–7:30 a.m., and chairs were already filling up. By 9:00 a.m., it was nearly impossible to find an available chair. We were on vacation—not trying to win a race for a poolside seat before breakfast. A resort of this size should have enough seating and/or a better system in place so guests aren’t forced to wake up at the crack of dawn just to enjoy the pool.
There were also concerns regarding cleanliness and overall attention to detail. The pool was visibly cloudy, which immediately made us question whether it was being properly maintained. We also discovered that the resort provides scented toilet paper. While this may seem like a small detail, fragranced bathroom products are unnecessary and can be irritating for some guests. For a resort that is supposed to prioritize comfort and hygiene, this was a very strange choice.
During our stay, staff members asked us multiple times what we were celebrating. My husband and I shared that it was our anniversary yet nothing ever came about it. Not even a Happy Anniversary! Not a big deal.. If this is simply a standard question, that’s fine—but if guests are repeatedly asked what they are celebrating with the implication that it may be acknowledged, it was disappointing that nothing followed.
Unfortunately, our concerns became even more serious during the trip. My husband became sick with significant gastrointestinal symptoms after dining at the resort restaurant, where he had sushi. This was the only meal he had that differed from the rest of our family. Shortly afterward, I also became extremely ill. I experienced repeated vomiting throughout the night. While we cannot say with certainty what caused our illnesses, the timing in relation to the meal was concerning.
The most frustrating part is that this was supposed to be a vacation we could relax and enjoy. Instead, we spent a portion of our trip dealing with illness and issues that should not occur at a resort of this level.
One person who absolutely deserves recognition, however, is Carlos from the pool staff. He was fantastic. He consistently made sure our entire family had drinks in hand and went above and beyond to take care of us. His attentiveness and genuine kindness stood out and were very much appreciated. Carlos is a great example of the level of service we hoped to experience throughout our stay.
At the end of the day, we are happy to have experienced this trip but wouldn't be back again.”

“We were extremely disappointed with our experience, especially considering we paid approximately $14,000 for this vacation.
The biggest issue was the service. At the Japanese restaurant, we waited 45 minutes just for our drinks. Our server, Sandra, took our drink order, disappeared, then returned about 35 minutes later acting as though she had never been to our table and took our order again. It then took another 20 minutes to receive our drinks. We spent nearly two hours at the restaurant for just two bowls of udon soup and one sushi roll, and the portions were surprisingly small.
The resort’s VIP policies made us feel like second-class guests. We couldn’t order four pieces of sushi because that option was reserved for VIP members. There were only three covered canopies by the pool, and two of them were exclusively for VIP guests, leaving very little shaded seating for everyone else.
Although signs clearly stated that guests could not reserve pool chairs, the rule wasn’t enforced. For the first two days of our stay, we couldn’t find any available chairs. We eventually found seats by the beach, but instead of being able to relax, we were constantly approached and harassed by beach vendors trying to sell us items.
One of the most concerning experiences occurred when a member of our group suffered a large open wound to their elbow. We expected the resort staff to provide or at least help us access basic first aid, but they offered no meaningful assistance. In a situation involving an injured guest, the lack of urgency, concern, or support was both frustrating and disappointing.
The elevators were overcrowded, and it often felt like you had to fight just to get on and off. The beds were extremely hard and too short, with our feet hanging off the end, making it difficult to get a comfortable night’s sleep.
Carlos at the pool was also rude and dismissive, which only added to our negative experience.
For the amount of money we spent, we expected attentive service, comfortable accommodations, and a resort that prioritized its guests. Instead, we encountered poor service, inconsistent policies, overcrowded amenities, and a lack of care when it mattered most. Unfortunately, this vacation did not come close to justifying its $14,000 price tag, and we cannot recommend this resort.”

“My wife and I initially arrived at Dreams Vallarta Bay with the anticipation of a truly memorable trip, particularly as we were undergoing IVF treatments. Regrettably, due to unforeseen complications with the IVF treatment, my wife required emergency surgery, which prevented her from participating in egg implantation. Despite this unexpected turn of events, the staff at Dreams, provided exceptional care and ensured that the remainder of our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They demonstrated outstanding service, attending to our every need. I cannot overstate the positive impact their attentiveness had on our experience and my wife's recovery, after we checked into Dreams.”

“Question: those that say this hotel was better years ago, what do you mean? In what ways was it better. Was it just because it was newer and kept more refurbished? We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Rooms were good, service good in spite of the masses of people, Views fantastic, grounds on property well kept. and food like any other all inclusive. Only complaint was reservation process for hibachi restaurant. Stood for an hour only to find that most days only 5:30 and 10:90 seatings were available. Weather outrageously hot but what would you expect?”
The good, the bad, and the ugly of the Hyatt Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa
4/10
JDBJR74 · Family · 2026-07-21
“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly perfectly sums up my first—and definitely last—visit to this resort.
The Good
The staff was genuinely exceptional. With one notable exception (more on that later), everyone was friendly, attentive, and eager to help. Special recognition goes to Cristian, Olena, and Raul, who consistently delivered five-star service.
Rooms were clean, service was prompt, and finding a drink was never a challenge.
The Bad
The resort's open-air design may sound appealing until you visit in July and realize the humidity is apparently an included amenity. As someone who grew up in Louisiana, I thought I understood humidity. This resort taught me humility.
The lobby, lounges, bars, Preferred Club, and even many indoor spaces felt hot and humid with little relief.
The Preferred Club is oversold and underdelivered. The lounge looked like a former business center that received a modest makeover and a new sign.
The teen center and family amenities were particularly disappointing. A foosball table and two PlayStations do not constitute a family entertainment program.
The beach experience was underwhelming, with constant vendor traffic and less-than-ideal beach conditions.
The food was comparable to a budget cruise—edible, but not memorable. Aside from the Asian restaurant, dining options were consistently mediocre.
The Ugly
Within two hours of arrival, we realized this resort was not a good fit and attempted to transfer to a sister property, the Hyatt Ziva. We were fully prepared to pay any transfer fees and rate differences and weren't seeking discounts or special treatment.
Unfortunately, our interaction with Jair at the Preferred Club desk was the low point of the trip. Despite sitting at a Preferred Club desk as a Preferred Club guest, I was told he could not assist and that I needed to call reservations myself. When I asked for a manager, I was directed elsewhere rather than offered assistance.
Thankfully, Olena completely changed the experience. She and Raul immediately stepped in, were professional, accommodating, and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, resort staff have no authority over reservation transfers, and while reservations could move us to another property, they could not guarantee what portion of our prepaid stay would be refunded.
Rather than risk losing the full amount, we stayed. Raul helped move us to a different Preferred Club room, sparing me from further interactions with Jair.
Final Thoughts In the end, we still managed to have an enjoyable vacation thanks almost entirely to the staff who cared enough to make the best of a disappointing resort experience.
My Rating:
Staff: ★★★★★ (except Jair)
Resort: ★★☆☆☆
Food: ★★☆☆☆ to ★★★☆☆
Family Amenities: ★☆☆☆☆
Preferred Club Value: ★☆☆☆☆
Bottom Line: If this resort marketed itself as an adults-only value property, my expectations may have been different. But as a family resort with premium "Preferred Club" offerings, it simply does not deliver. The staff deserves far better than the product they're being asked to support.”
3.5–4 Stars | Good Stay with a Few Bumps Along the Way

“3.5–4 Stars | Good Stay with a Few Bumps Along the Way
My stay at the resort was overall good, but there were a few issues that kept it from being a great experience.
The absolute highlight of our trip was the breakfast buffet. There was a wonderful variety of food every morning, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Benito, our breakfast server, was exceptional. He was warm, attentive, and consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He truly made our mornings enjoyable.
When we first checked into Room 2064, I noticed the room wasn’t as clean as I expected. I mentioned it to the bellman who brought our luggage, and housekeeping came back to clean it again, which I appreciated.
I was also celebrating my birthday during our stay, so I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t acknowledged at all. It’s not something I expect, but it’s always a nice touch that many resorts offer and would have made the trip feel a little more special.
The biggest issue happened after dinner at the hibachi restaurant. When we returned to our room, we found puddles of water all over the bathroom floor because the ceiling was leaking. It was definitely not something you want to deal with while on vacation. Thankfully, the front desk handled the situation professionally and immediately moved us to another room. I really appreciated how quickly they resolved the problem, even though it was stressful to have to pack up and switch rooms.
I also want to give a shout-out to the daytime bartender at the bar near the elevators leading to the guest rooms. I wish I could remember his name because he was fantastic. He was always friendly, welcoming, and made excellent drinks. Employees like him and Benito really stood out and made a positive impression.
Overall, while there were some housekeeping and maintenance issues, the staff’s customer service helped make up for them. The resort is located in a beautiful area, which is one of the reasons I would consider returning. With a little more attention to room upkeep and those small personal touches that make guests feel special, this could easily be an even better experience.”
Beautiful Scenery/ Limited Entertainment
8/10
shanekwaj2026 · NONE · 2026-07-19
“The resort is beautiful, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the property itself is very scenic. I highly recommend renting a private cabana, especially if you want a more relaxing and comfortable experience away from the larger crowds.
We traveled with two children, and they enjoyed themselves during the stay. However, compared with other family-friendly Dreams resorts, there could have been more consistent daytime activities and evening entertainment for both children and adults.
The resort becomes much busier from Friday through Sunday. During the week, we usually did not experience a wait for the restaurants. Once Friday arrived, wait times increased to approximately 40–60 minutes due to the larger crowds and limited restaurant availability.
The food options were somewhat limited. Breakfast at the buffet was pretty good, but lunch could have offered more variety and better options. The Italian restaurant was adults-only, which reduced the dining choices for families traveling with children. Castaways’ second level was also closed, which further limited availability.
The reservation-only restaurants were difficult to book because reservations often became unavailable within about 10 minutes of opening. Some restaurants were also closed one day during the week, making it even harder to secure a reservation.
We rented an Oceana cabana and were able to order food from Oceana. The food was amazing, and we were glad to have the opportunity to try it because Oceana was not otherwise accessible to us while staying on the Dreams side with children.
The drinks were good, and the bartenders were able to make the specialty drinks I requested. However, the bars did not always have drink-rim ingredients such as Tajín or sugar.
The entertainment was one of the most disappointing parts of the stay. Many of the evening performances were short, slow, and lacked energy. Some of the singers were not very engaging. There was a show on Friday night, but it was not advertised well and was held downstairs, so many guests may not have known about it.
The nightclub was closed and appeared unfinished. The area smelled strongly of paint and did not seem ready for guests. There was very little adult entertainment and not enough consistent family entertainment compared with other Dreams, Breathless, and Secrets resorts we have visited. The pool area could also benefit from more music, activities, and daytime entertainment.
Overall, the resort is visually stunning and offers beautiful views, nice rooms, and a peaceful atmosphere. Our children enjoyed themselves, but guests looking for lively nightlife, dancing, and a full schedule of family entertainment may be disappointed. The resort seems better suited for families and adults who prefer a quieter, more relaxing vacation and early evenings.”

“We stayed at Dreams Vallarta Bay in July 2026, and it was such a wonderful family vacation! As a mom, what stood out most was how family-friendly everything was. Our daughter absolutely loved the Explorer's Club and looked forward to going every day, which gave us some time to relax knowing she was having so much fun.
The beach was warm and beautiful, and once you got past a few rocks near the shore, the waves were perfect for floating, as long as you’re a strong swimmer! The sunsets every evening were absolutely stunning. We also spent hours at the kids' pools, so I'd definitely recommend bringing extra sunscreen and your own floaties.
The food was great, especially the breakfast buffet, and even our picky eater always found something she liked. Coco Café quickly became our favourite spot for coffee, churros, and afternoon ice cream. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and stayed nice and cool despite the hot weather outside.
Another big plus was the location—only about 10 minutes from the airport and a quick taxi ride to the Malecón.
Overall, this resort exceeded our expectations. Between the friendly staff, great food, fun kids' activities, beautiful beach, and convenient location, it made for an easy, relaxing family vacation. We made so many wonderful memories and would definitely come back!”

“Had reasonably high hopes for this place before booking because of the things id heard before, and the Hyatt name signaled that we could expect the experience that what was advertised. It was actually quite a low level of hospitality that constantly left us disappointed. We did speak up each time and nothing was ever taken seriously or solved or shown any shred of care. Very disappointing hotel experience for it being our Honeymoon, we had especially high hopes, paid for upgrades, spa etc. But it fell very short of what was promised. The worst was calling for water, tray pick up, lost and found, asking for anything and it getting ignored. Tray pick up took 3 calls over the course of 2 days to finally get picked up. By then the leftover seafood was rotting and attracting roaches outside our room. We paid for the Preferred Upgrade and didn't get the things we were promised. Day one there was no private Concierge which front desk called a " personal butler", no access to preferred bar or snacks, and no waters or non alcoholic drinks in our mini fridge, NO promised balcony jacuzzi that is advertised with the upgrade online. Paid an extra $400 for this upgrade. If you don't pay the upgrade youre stuck to the Dreams side only which is SIGNIFICANTLY lower level in quality than the Secrets side. Place is a total rip off.”
