    “Beautiful accommodation within a stunning building, located very centrally but in a quiet setting. From the moment we checked in we were treated really well, all staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. We were given champagne while we checked in and our cases were taken straight up to our rooms for us. We had booked three rooms for our family, celebrating a special birthday, and were very lucky to be upgraded to suites - the birthday girl even received a lovely surprise treat in her room. The rooms were absolutely stunning, especially the huge and luxurious bathrooms. We loved our stay and it made our celebrations all the more special. Thank you ☺️”

    “We arrived at the Stock Exchange Hotel at noon. The signage is tiny, so once we confirmed we were in the right place, we walked through the automatic doors — as one typically does when entering a hotel, rather than scurrying up from the sewer like the rats we were treated like. A hotel employee, who had been helping someone with their luggage, urgently called after us: “Excuse me. Can I help you?” I stopped in the doorway, briefly wondering if we had accidentally entered a restricted wing of the airport. We had luggage. We looked like people checking into a hotel because, inconveniently, that is exactly what we were. He asked if we were trying to check in and reminded us that check-in was at 3 p.m. Had we arranged and early check-in??? Fair enough. But instead of checking whether a room was available, or directing us to the front desk, he suggested we wait in the lobby and have champagne. Which sounds lovely in theory, but in practice felt less like hospitality and more like a hostage negotiation with bubbles. When I explained that we did not intend to sit in the lobby for three hours drinking champagne, he finally offered to hold our luggage. We returned at 3:01 p.m. He looked at us again as if we were swamp creatures who had learned to use revolving doors. Then recognition dawned, and he once again tried to steer us toward the lobby for champagne. We had already rearranged our schedule around the hotel’s check-in time and had somewhere to be at 4, so no — we simply needed to check in, shower, and leave. ... continued in next box ..”
