The location is incredible not just proximity to the city but the building itself. It is a wonderful old property. Staff were friendly but also genuine. Their high levels of customer service were completely natural. Bedroom was clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in

    “Zeer vriendelijk, en goeie ligging.”

  • A lovely hotel but they should invest in some proper floor mounted fans

    8/10

    alan · couple · 2026-09-06

“There were no effective fans in the room, there was a heatwave on and the two mini fans provided made no impact at all. Had we not anticipated this and brought our own large fan with us, it would have been an unbearable stay in what in every other way is a lovely hotel.”

“The ambiance was incredible. The common areas and garden were spectacular. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. The location of the hotel could not be better. The garden abuts the surrounding wall of the old city and is located directly behind the minster.”

  • A fabulous stay in a luxurious room at a hotel with a 900 year history.

“A historic hotel that hosts amazing, spacious, and luxurious rooms. As a bonus, we managed to park our car on the site, though at an extra charge. But the history of this hotel and its decorations are phenomenal.”

  • Always wanted to stay here after seeing the hotel from the York Wall. My expectations were exceeded

“A fantastic hotel right next to York Minster. Exceptional quality throughout — immaculate rooms and a genuinely five-star feel from start to finish. The beautiful garden backing onto the Roman wall is a real highlight. The Minster is 5 minutes on foot, and the rest of the historic centre . Helen, Kendall and their team could not have done more for us — warm, friendly and attentive at every turn. Highly recommended.they even went out of their way to set up a projector to watch the England v Norway match !!”
