    “We booked a room at Ayres Hotel as a precaution due to flood warnings on the Balboa Peninsula, where we were staying with family. We paid over $200 per night in full but ultimately stayed at the house Friday night. As the storm intensified Saturday, we decided to check into the hotel. Upon arrival, we were told that because we hadn’t checked in Friday or called, our reservation had been forfeited and our room with two beds was no longer available. Despite having paid in full and receiving no notification that we needed to confirm our arrival, we were told our only option was to pay extra for a premium suite. We reluctantly paid the additional charge because of the worsening weather. Extremely disappointing customer service, particularly when we had booked the hotel specifically for safety during a storm. A fully paid reservation should not be given away without notice.”
