“My husband and I loved the hotel, but one the bartenders was so rude and disrespectful to my wife. He wouldn’t give me his name but at the end I believe it was Casey. He was the worse and with a poor attitude. Needs better bartenders but food was amazing.”

One of the best Guest Relations Teams! Everyone went above and beyond - welcoming smiles, personable conversations, attention to details. Mario D. spoke with me personally to make the "particular inconvenience right" ~ exemplary leadership!!
The grounds are very well kept. Our room overlooking the pool area was well appointed and stocked with espresso, beverage accessories and deep soaking tub with salts. Loved the privacy button instead of cheap DND door hangers. Refreshing smell throughout the property.
Enjoyed eating (Salmon/Shrimp burger and Fish sandwich) on the private beach which was also well maintained and equipped with firepits. The shuttle to the beach is a nice touch with the well mannered young man driving.

“We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Waldorf Astoria Dana Point for a quick little staycation.
Even though we’re local to the area, it truly feels like we’re miles away from home. The relaxing environment, top-tier service, and amazing amenities are why the Waldorf stands out in Dana Point.
Upon check-in, we were greeted by Noah at the front desk. He made the check-in process as seamless as possible, offering water, assisting with dinner reservations, and even accommodating our room upgrade request. Our room was beautifully located on the first floor, with easy walk-out access to the wonderful amenities.
Transportation to the beach club was effortless. Our tram driver communicated clearly, shared stories, and even mentioned that not only did he work there, but his daughter would be greeting us at the beach club. It was amazing to see the Waldorf family connection and support.
Our next-day pool experience was even better. With help from Kyle getting our seats set up, offering towels, and bringing water, we felt like we were in pure luxury. Then Hayden greeted us and truly elevated the experience. He remembered our names from a previous stay over six months ago, continued to check if there was anything we needed, and was nonstop assisting all guests. That level of attention was incredibly impressive.
The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views of the sunset. One of the things that really stood out to me was the incredible hospitality. The staff knew our names, anticipated how to help us, and provided top-level service for every request we had. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
It's clear they take great pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the resort.

A special shoutout to Eric, who truly elevated our experience — he went out of his way to secure us a fantastic room just steps from the pool and took the time to help us navigate the beautiful property. “Such a beautiful hotel and great for an escape. The beach club and the amenities were picturesque. Really enjoyed the spa and gym and the personal trainer was great. Starting the morning with a workout on the beach and then having a lovely breakfast really made the holiday. The restaurants could improve on catering for allergies.”

“The service at this resort was exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and obviously hustling to do a great job. Also the number of activities available was really impressive. We enjoyed all the workout classes, long walks to the beach, the bikes and pool areas. The grounds are really nice it is a big Vegas like in style and scale. Restaurants we tried on site were decent (not great) and pretty pricey. But overall the resort really delivers for a great long weekend away.”

“The hotel is not close to the beach as far as I can tell, though the water is visible from some rooms and around the property. So if you’re looking for a beach experience, this isn’t the place. It also evokes Las Vegas more than Los Angeles with cavernous hallways and a gaudy entrance area. The rooms are not distinctive in any way, painted entirely white with beige furniture. Bathrooms are a bit weird in terms of proportions. The staff is very friendly and efficient and room service prompt. Do not order off the QR code, call them instead. The lead times quoted using the code are 2x that when you call. Needless to say, confusing. It’s also quiet with pleasant resort views. It’s not bad, just not what I expected in sunny California.”

“Four of us had high expectations when we booked New Year's Eve at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club. What a disappointment. The lights were way too bright, and the staff refused to lower the lights even after several people complained. No mood lighting at all, and the DJ music was pretty terrible. Most of the music was dated, loud, and obnoxious. Every song sounded like the last song. There was no place to sit, so I ended up standing most of the night. Had a glass of champagne when I arrived, but then couldn't get another one until midnight even though the four of us spent a fortune on the "party". Needless to say, it was dull, boring, and lacked any semblance of a party, much less a New Year's Eve party. I will never go there again for anything. If they can't even put on a decent party for people paying a lot of money to be there, then I wouldn't trust them to make my stay a nice one. Whoever was in charge of New Year's Eve dropped the ball big time. I'm generally pretty easy to please, but their "party" was a disaster.”

We were quite disappointed because it looked more like a high school party, with the bright lights!!! We asked if some lights could be dimmed and the response was that “engineers” were working on it, which was really hard to believe. We will not returning next year.”

“We stayed at The Waldorf for Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holiday. The staff was super attentive & friendly.
We had a fist floor room in the south wing with a fire pit. It rained while we were there & our patio flooded a little bit (no fault of the hotel’s), but my husband still enjoyed the fire pit. They even gave us a s’mores kit for our room with a blanket & a bottle of red wine. It was a nice touch.
We had Christmas brunch at Aveo. It was pricey ($220 per person) but so well worth it. Seafood tower, omelet station, carving station, charcuterie table, dessert bar. It was incredible.
My husband golfed on Christmas. I rode along. Beautiful course in a beautiful neighborhood. Two holes are on the beach & it was gorgeous.
We’d love to come back when it’s not raining & bring our family. Definitely a 5-star experience.”

“Our family of 9 went to the hotels Aveo Restaurant for their big Christmas Day buffet. Usually we eat at home on Christmas, but everyone was too tired so we decided to treat ourselves, which turned out to be one of the smarter things we’ve done lately. The Christmas Day buffet is a little on the expensive side, but the experience was fantastic . The food was terrific. More so, from Marvin at Aveo and Danielle (who was responsible for the opening of this beautiful restaurant several years ago ) and her membership team, all of whom who were great in setting up our reservation including a great table for 9 people, to Keana (hotel food and beverage director), to Edgar (Aveo GM), to Jose ((hotel senior server and bartender) , and to Bella (senior food runner), the service was extraordinary during our meal. These people aren’t rookies, and they made sure every last detail during our entire meal was taken care of. They are experienced, caring professionals who take a great deal of pride in their work, and whose resumes are off the charts. All in all, if you want a truly 5-star+ level of service which is hard to get now-a-days, along with great food and a beautifully designed ocean view setting , I would strongly recommend this restaurant. These people made our Christmas Day, and I just wanted to thank them.”

“My wife and I just took another weekend trip to the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, and once again it was an amazing experience. We’re locals and love coming here because the service is always exceptional… that’s what keeps us coming back.
I really want to shout out a few people who made our stay even better. Mario Dominguez, one of the managers, has been incredible since the very first day we met him. He’s always been super helpful and goes out of his way to make sure we’re taken care of.
Justin from bell services has helped us the last two times we’ve stayed and is extremely personable. He even remembered us from our previous visit. Last time my wife was pregnant, and this time we came back with our six-month-old. That personal touch meant a lot to us.
Also, Eric at the front desk was very nice and helpful throughout our stay.
Overall, the resort is super family-friendly, very accommodating, the service is top-notch, and the food is great. Big shoutout to Bourbon Steak and the Beach Club as well. We’ll definitely continue coming back.”
