“We came to the Farmhouse for a multi-generational "girls' trip" and it really delivered everything I was hoping for-- luxurious rooms and pool/fire pit areas, great food, excellent service-- laid back luxury which was perfect for my midwestern family. The concierge, Teresa, was amazing and arranged tastings for us at partner wineries and these were perfect too. It's an ideal location for exploring the Russian River area including cool towns, the redwoods and the coast. Highly recommend.”

“This was our third visit to Farmhouse Inn and may have been the best. It was our first visit since the Inn sold to Foley and we were concerned some of the service that makes the Inn special may have gone away but we were relieved that was not the case. We stay in Barn Junior Suites which are very spacious and far away from the highway and highly recommended. They each have an outside area as well. Before our stay Letisha the concierge helped us in a number of areas includes rides to dinner and to wineries, she was always very responsive. When available, Farmhouse Inn offers transportation via Volvo SUV’s to dinner within 20 minutes or so for $25 each way, a bargain in an area where Ubers are expensive and at times difficult to get. Reserve those in advance as they can book up early. Breakfast and lunch were very good, breakfast in particular. While the menu does not change from day to day, there are a half dozen selections all of which were extremely good. We are dinner at the restaurant one night, the food was very good, the price point a bit high but this is California. Service across the board could not have been better, including check in, luggage handling and meals. Some have mentioned that Farmhouse will nickel and dime resort fees and other charges, this is true but the high standard of service makes it tolerable.”

“My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary and we had the most amazing trip. The property was absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and everyone who works here was so kind and helpful, we honestly have never received better service. Letisha was so helpful weeks before we even arrived helping plan our itinerary and making all our reservations. Everywhere she suggested was absolutely amazing! We have already talked about wanting to go back and have recommended this place to our families. I cannot thank Letisha and the entire team here enough!”

“This quaint resort was the perfect getaway to experience some unique wineries and relax in a serene environment. Upon our arrival, to our surprise we were upgraded to a suite at the back of the property where it was private and quiet. The pool was pleasant to relax and take in some sun. The nightly wine tastings from partner wineries were an added bonus. We indulged in the 5 course chef tasting menu at the Farmhouse restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and they accommodated a veggie option. We will definitely be back to enjoy this incredible property in beautiful wine country!”

“i dined at thier restaurant a few year ago, but the I stayed four nights this fall while visiting some Sonoma wineries (Lynmar and Small Vines). It’s a nice inn, with well appointed rooms. We enjoyed every evening when they brought in a different local winery each night for a tasting. Of course, we also ate the Michelin star restaurant which was quite enjoyable although it got a bit loud when they seated a group of four in the middle of a small room.”

“Our first stay and we will definitely stay again. We love the gardens (I'd never seen so many hummingbirds at one time.), the homely feel, the cleanliness and the quality of food offers at their two dining options. We had breakfast and dinner at the Farmstand. It's near Armstrong Redwoods. We had tastings at Gary Farrell Winery where our tasting fee was waived because we stayed at Farmhouse Inn. We didn't expect that. Thank you! We loved their wine and we had a few bottles shipped home. The only minor issues was that either HVAC or water heater system kicking in at dawn that woke me up but my husband slept through it. :) I'd like to mention that the quality of toiletries offered was superb. I bought a set from the front desk. Also thank you for the "welcome" bottle of wine and chocolates. This place takes the world "HOSPITALITY" seriously. I highly recommend them. This was our first visit in Sonoma and we will keep Farmhouse Inn in our sweet memories. We will be talking about it for a long time. Thank you so much, Joe. It was nice meeting you and chatting with you for a bit at the fire pit. We truly enjoyed our stay.”

  • True 5 star service and attention to detail

“Great service, food and accommodations. We were in room 9, cottage and it was quiet, comfortable and romantic. We enjoyed s’mores by the fire pit at night. Wonderful attention to details. The marshmallows were made from scratch. Home made soaps, and votive candles in the soaking tub. Heated floors in bathroom and steam shower. We canceled our dinner Reservations one night to have more time enjoying the smores, casual dinner at the hotel, and the wine tasting from 4:30-5:30. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We can’t wait to return. A true 5 star experience.”

“My wife and I started coming to the Farmhouse Inn about a dozen years or so ago. We love it because it is small and private with charming rooms, beautiful common areas and a highly attentive staff that make us feel like family. This visit, like all of our prior ones over the years, was excellent. We came in on a Sunday for just one night when the hotel was only about 60% full. The concierge recognized us from our previous visits and welcomed us warmly. We were given a complimentary room upgrade. A bottle of wine and a sweet, hand-written welcome note were waiting for us in our room. We spent the afternoon lounging by the swimming pool and had an artisan pizza and drinks from the Farmstand poolside restaurant. The staff was very attentive and continually refreshed our ice-water and towels, and brought small dining treats to all of the poolside guests. We had a 6pm dinner in the fine dining restaurant. The dining room is in the main farmhouse is beautiful in an understated and casual way. The dinner was a Chef's choice set menu, which might not appeal to everyone, but was great for us. We also opted for the wine pairings. We have eaten many fine meals all over the world, but our dinner that night was probably the best we have ever had. From the champagne start and several small appetizers, we were then treated to eight small courses, many of them served by the Chef himself. The Sommelier delivered and explained a new wine with each course, until the final Sauterne with dessert. This restaurant deserves to have its Michelin Star returned! After a quiet and peaceful night in our room and an delightful steam shower the next morning, we opted for breakfast in the restaurant and were treated to a more casual, but just as excellent, dining experience. On our departure, we were again greeted warmly at reception and let them know that we hope to be back again soon! The cost of this hotel, like most great properties in Napa and Sonoma is not cheap, and continues to increase over time, but, for us at least, the experience continues to be worth the price.”

“My god this is the worst place ever! DON'T DO IT! First off this place is so noisy because it is right on the high-way. Then the room is so small it’s like living in a closet. I checked out a night early brocade it was so bad. They still charged me for the 2nd night in violation of California law. Total scam stay away!!!”

“We chose the Farmhouse Inn because of all the rave reviews and because we are often in the Forestville area. We have stayed at top hotels elsewhere (several Ritz Carltons, the Breakers, etc.) but this was more expensive than those, so we had high expectations and were excited for our stay. On the plus side: check-in was very personalized and helpful, including being offered a "bath bar" smorgasbord of soaps, bubbles, scrub, and salts, which was fun. We were able to book wine tastings with partner wineries, gratis, which was also very nice and helped introduce us to wineries that weren't on our radar -- as did the nightly wine tasting held on property. We enjoyed an excellent massage at the spa, and had delicious breakfasts each day. The room was generously sized, with a bar that was thoughtfully stocked with mixers, colas, snacks, fruits, all included. The bathroom had a huge soaker tub, steam shower, and heated floors. There was even had a little outside patio space with a bistro table and chairs. However, for a property like this, it's the little things: there were no bedside lamps, for instance. In fact, all the lighting was overhead can lighting except by the sink and one table lamp on the bar. There were no reading lights at all by the bed, or by the two easy chairs in the room. The chairs themselves were not comfortable, which would have been an easy fix. Again, for the price point, a comfy chair seems like a basic, as do reading lights. The bathroom barn-style doors didn't close fully -- there was always a gap somewhere, or they rolled slowly open after being closed. The roller shade on the room door gapped, as well. We weren't there during a busy time, but at breakfast, the one wait staff fully cleared a table before even greeting us or offering coffee, even though there were plenty of ready tables should anyone else walk in. We weren't in a hurry for any of the breakfasts, which was a good thing, because they took quite a while, despite there only being one or two other tables of one or two people at the same time. There is a nice pool, but again, the furnishings at the pool fall short of what you'd expect for the price point. On the day we checked out, we knew that because of our spa appointment we'd be pushing close to the check-out time, so when we asked the front desk, they said it wasn't a problem, no one was checking in right after us. I was quite startled when I stepped out of the room for the final time, ten minutes prior to checkout, and nearly ran into cleaning staff waiting to get into our room. That really ended the visit on a down note. All of the little things just added up to way too much -- it was like this was someone's first venture running a hotel and they had just whacked a high price point on it to see who would bite, and because it's Wine Country.”

“Upscale but low key, this property is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy fine dining and spa treatments while embracing a charming yellow hued farmhouse village surrounded by towering trees. We stayed in a Barn Junior Suite which was spacious and comfortable with features that included a couch, fireplace, beamed ceiling, and large walk in closet. The windowed bathroom had a big deep spa tub and a spacious steam shower. Outside was a private patio with café table and two chairs, plus two chairs in front of the double sided fireplace. While the room had a white color palate and exposures on three sides, it was light deprived at times because of all those tall trees nearby. A highlight of the hotel offerings is a nightly wine tasting hour hosted by a different local vineyard each late afternoon. We were so impressed one evening with the wine from Gary Farrell Vineyards that we actually stopped by their location the next day and made a purchase. Unfortunately we did not eat on site because the menus even for breakfast went beyond our more limited taste buds. But we did partake in the nightly s’mores offering. I also enjoyed swimming laps in the ample pool which is surrounded by loungers and gets good sunlight in the middle of summer. The pool however needs to be repainted and cushions on those loungers would be a nice upgrade. There is no gym on site, but there is a large spa. With only 25 rooms spread out over several buildings, the hotel always seemed tranquil which we appreciated. The staff was friendly and the location is convenient to many wineries and charming towns within a five minute drive or more. You can easily self-park, and there is no resort fee.”
