Beautiful grounds

“Beautiful grounds and excellent advantages as a globalist with Hyatt. Breakfast is delicious and the pool is serene. Valet and shuttle services are quick and efficient. Concierge was young and didn’t really seem to run things too efficiently—we didn’t have our luggage delivered or the globalist advantages explained to us we well as they forgot to note that we had a later checkout after I called it in the morning. Also, it was supposed to be adults only but we did see a child. Again, overall nice stay and view of the vineyards but concierge could do better.”
Gorgeous Property, Great Staff

“Beautiful property that is super conveniently located on the edge of St. Helena. Staff, rooms, and grounds were gorgeous, and the concierges did a fantastic job helping us coordinate wine tastings and restaurant reservations. We'll definitely be returning. Thank you Alila Napa Valley!”
Good stay for birthday weekend.

“Booked 2 nights on points, vineyard view, for my wife's birthday weekend. Room was very large, clean, and amazing. Always great to see japanese toilets stateside. Loved the balcony and fire pit. Great beds and linens. Fantastic shower/bathroom. My only complaint is that the room seemed to be below the air conditioner on the roof (we had 3rd floor room), so it would often sound like a helicopter flying above our head. That would certainly bother some people. All housekeeping and valet/bell service was great. Was able to get explorist late check out - not confirmed at check in, but on our last day. Did not try any food or consumables from the hotel. Loved the free shuttle within 4 miles, we used it a few times. Location of hotel is of course very good, which is why they charge such a premium. This is probably one of the best HQ from which to wine down in Napa valley.”
Over-priced, really not worth it. Stay for the convenience, not for the amenities.

“As many have stated, this is just a slightly above-average property an expensive location in the St. Helena, Napa Valley area. Check-in happens in a detached "hut" next to the main building. We were told our room is almost ready and is getting its final check, but there is no "lobby" or "waiting area," so we had no choice but to enter the "restaurant" and order a drink and a soda for $30 to escape the 95+ degree temps. Later, checked in with GoH benefits, but the staff neither welcomed nor acknowledged that, nor informed me about the complimentary breakfast.
The room itself is decent, the vineyard view is nice, but not category 8 nice. The bathroom reminded me of a Japanese-style bath area, but there was a ton of mold/gunk buildup between the top of the tub/tile. I was appalled by the condition... they do include bath salts and fancy shampoo and body wash (which they label as saying that you'll be billed $95 if you take them home with you).
We went to Cavallo Point and Alila Napa for a 4-night, 5-day trip with my wife as a semi-20th anniversary thing, but honestly left quite disappointed when this stay was supposed to be the bang!, if you know what I mean.”

“From the moment we arrived on property we loved it. St Helena such a small quaint town , walking distance from the alila. We enjoyed many Mexico City margaritas with Oscar at the hotel bar and just enjoyed the company of other travelers. The pool was super relaxing but the star of the show were the rooms. My wife and I found ourselves immersing ourselves with our private fire pit every night. We will definitely be back!”
Not worth the money spent.

“Noisy, dirty, and poorly maintained; weak AC that only cools at night, filthy worn patio and pool area, loud floors and blackout shades, and careless housekeeping that left supplies, dirty cups, and discarded our food. Was informed I received a room upgrade because of my explorist status only to find out I got the upgrade because I paid for it. Not the same.”
Beautiful resort but some opportunities for improvement

“Alila is a beautiful resort and the spa was fantastic. Highly recommend the spa!! Our room was beautiful and comfortable. We recently stayed at the hotel for 1 night. We had requested specifically a room that had an outdoor soaking tub and had even confirmed 2 weeks prior. When we arrived, unfortunately the night before the HVAC of the building we were to stay went out and I understand they had to then give us a different room. When we arrived, we were given a "room upgrade" but when we went to the room and it was a bigger room, it did not have an outdoor soaking tub. So, we talked with Pamela, the front desk manager, and I explained that as much as this was a "room upgrade" it was not a true room upgrade as it did not have the specific request we had. It was then we were told about the issue of HVAC falure and room not being available. I explained it would have been more appropriate to have let us know ahead of time of the room availability once they found out so not to disappoint us as we had expectations. Pamela and subsequently Nick (the assistant front office manager) were apologetic and they gave us a generous compensation for our inconvenience. Other than that, our stay was excellent.”
Honeymoon - Wining & Dining

“Stayed for our honeymoon and booked using Hyatt points. The room was very nice and clean. Comfortable with a very luxurious feel. We had a stream side room with a king sized bed and fire pit on the patio facing the neighboring winery. The view was very nice and peaceful, but there was a good amount of road noise which actually didn't bother us during the day. The blackout curtains, complementary coffee and water made the stay enjoyable.
We were greeted with a small bottle of sparkling wine and note in the room which was nice. Bell, housekeeping, and shuttle services were nice and professional.
Staff seemed a bit young and maybe inexperienced. We weren't offered a room upgrade which was disappointing.
The concierge serviced helped with a wine tasting reservation at Frank Family which was helpful. We did not utilize any other offered amenities.
We tried Violetto for dinner. It was our first ever 8 course tasting with a shared wine pairing. Overall experience was okay. The first four courses were very good, but then the pacing fell off and my spouse and I found ourselves waiting for long periods between courses which soiled the experience. We also felt like we didn't get the best service from the wait staff and chef because neither were able to fully explain the dishes. For the price point, I suppose we were expecting a much better experience. First four or five courses were definitely delicious and the wine pairing was really good, but again the whole experience seemed to degrade as the night went on unfortunately.
Overall the stay was good, but with Alila being the most anticipated hotel stay of our honeymoon road trip, we were left wanting more.”

Disappointing Stay

“My husband and I booked 3 nights at Alila Napa Valley for our anniversary, and I was genuinely excited to stay here. It was a surprise trip, and given the Alila reputation and price point, I came in with very high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of them.
The property itself is beautiful, but throughout our stay I found myself disappointed by the lack of attention to detail. There were several amenities and room touches I expected at this level that were either missing or not replenished during our stay. It felt like I had to repeatedly ask for things that should have already been available in the room.
The biggest issue was housekeeping. One day we returned after being out all day and found that our room had still not been serviced yet. We then had to wait around while housekeeping came by, which ended up disrupting our plans and taking away from our time enjoying the property.
When I requested a late checkout on our final day I was told they couldn't accommodate it. While I understand late checkout is never guaranteed, it felt like a small gesture that could have made a meaningful difference to our overall experience. Ironically, had we booked through Amex, late checkout would have been guaranteed.
What disappointed me most was the lack of follow-through. I shared all of these concerns with the front desk upon checkout and was assured that someone would reach out to me. Unfortunately, that never happened. If you're looking for beautiful views, you'll find them. If you're looking for service that matches the price tag, keep looking.”

“Beautiful location and wonderful and attentive staff. The location gives you convenient access to everything in the valley north of yountville. Room 102 is right above the gym so you may be awoken from workout noise.”

“A very nice property but does not feel like a category 8 wow factor. The pool is basic (and quite cool), the social atmosphere is non-existent, the room is very nice with good features like room darkening shades, rainfall shower and heated toilet - but none of it is Impressions level amazing. If I would’ve paid 50% of the room fee, it would’ve felt appropriate. Because nothing about it is bad. But it’s also not worth $1000 or 40,000. Hyatt points per night.”

“Above and beyond service from the Front Desk team. They showed great recovery practices after my wife and I had suffered through a terrible experience at another hotel the night before. The room with the tub and fire pit on the balcony is something out of a dream.”

“We stayed Sunday to Friday where we celebrated an anniversary and visited several nearby wineries. I recommend Alila for couples. We loved the walking distance to town, courtesy shuttle, and Trek bikes. The Wine Trail starts right at the property, making it easy to explore wineries to the north by bike (Krug, Markham, etc.). The valet/doormen are on post and super helpful, so bring cash for tips. All staff were a pleasure to interact with. The text number for requests was super responsive- use it! . We enjoyed the $75 Costco breakfast credit daily, be sure to double check when you check out- this is great value if you book on Costco Travel. The workout room was exceptional. There were just a few things to call out that affected our experience. When we checked in we shared it was a special anniversary. But nothing ever happened. 5 star hotels would do something special (chocolates in room, a flower, a bottle of champagne or wine). It was never recognized. The pool could have been warmer but it is very nice with plenty of comfortable loungers. Also, note the property is very intimate and small. Not a bad thing, but know there isn't a real "lobby." I often wake up early and enjoy escaping my room for some quiet time, but there was nowhere to go except sit outside, which was too cold in the mornings. They offer free self tap coffee in restaurant (fantastic), however they do not put it out until 7am (!!) so if you are early riser you have to make alt coffee plans. We were also disappointed the bar closed at 9 pm on weeknights which was right around time we would get back to our rooms from dinner and would enjoy a nightcap. Overall, St Helena is a pretty sleepy town with just about zero nightlife, and Alila takes on this personality as well. Overall our experience was great but it was not exceptional. I think 5 star hotels should be exceptional. This is more like a 4 star hotel. I would lean more like 4.5. This was our first Napa trip. If you are new to Napa or have not stayed here, you should check it out.”
Alila Napa - Excellent Food and Service but Lacking Amenities

“Alila Napa - Excellent Service but Lacking Amenities
We just returned from our weekend stay at the Alila Napa resort, and while the weekend itself was relaxing and wonderful, the hotel was not what we expected from an establishment of this caliber.
The staff was absolutely fantastic, and the property was extremely clean and well maintained. We loved being able to communicate with the front desk and concierge through the app. The service and food at the onsite restaurant were also excellent. We especially enjoyed the variety of breakfast menu options and the delicious, unique execution of everything we tried.
However, the amenities in our hotel room were not what we are accustomed to seeing at other Alila resorts or hotels of this caliber. There were absolutely no snacks or beverages aside from refillable water bottles that were not even chilled. There were no fruit or snack deliveries throughout our stay and no turndown service.
It was also surprising to see small plastic coffee creamer containers — something we honestly have not encountered in hotel rooms since staying at a Motel 6 nearly twenty years ago.
While I did enjoy the Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom and shower, there were no makeup remover wipes, hair brushes, shaving products, or other thoughtful touches that are usually standard in five-star hotels.
With so many wonderful resorts in the Napa area, we truly regretted spending our money here.”
