Location. Nothing else. Few years ago we liked absolutely everything. This year it was the opposite.

Loved most

How guests scored the stay

  • Location9.7

Very positive: multiple mentions of a great location and proximity to mountain/skiing.

  • Amenities9.7

Strong amenities noted (lobby, excellent ski valet); guests praised on-site services despite some security infrastructure concerns.

  • Room Quality9.0

Generally high-quality rooms but with specific issues reported (fridge not working, in-room safe too small) that affected some stays.

  • Overall Experience8.9

Overall positive attributes (location, amenities, some excellent staff interactions) but marred for some guests by poor handling of a serious theft and inconsistent staff attentiveness.

  • Food and Beverage8.8

Standard quality for this hotel tier

  • Cleanliness8.3

Mixed: one report of a room not being cleaned and food left in the fridge; an isolated service lapse but not a pervasive cleanliness complaint.

  • Service8.2

Mixed service: several staff described as moody or not very attentive and management was seen as dismissive in a theft case, but individual staff (e.g., an engineer and ski valet) were praised for being helpful.

  • Value for Money7.8

Concerns about resort fees and perceived poor value given reported security problems and high room rates.

  • The rooms are small but the views are bad

    6/10

    Guide738010 · Couples · 2026-08-24

“We are loyal Bonvoy members and booked The Hythe as it was part of the Luxury Collection. From the minute you walk in the door of this resort in the quiet, peaceful Vail Valley, you are blasted with loud, dance club-style music. The music is on from morning to midnight. You almost can’t have a conversation in the lobby it’s so loud. We are platinum elite level (which really doesn’t mean much) and were told our room had been upgraded. The room (536) had one narrow window with a view of the highway and a very large rock covered roof. We asked to be moved. The kind woman who checked us in met us in the next room (236) which was the same only three floors lower. She commented,”This one is even worse.” She then moved us to the first floor. By then, we had to rush to make a wedding weekend-related dinner. The first floor room (136) was just off the loud lobby and right next to the fire pit. You could hear the music through the walls as well as people’s conversations outside. We had to keep the drapes shut and door closed so that people could not see in. By contrast, the valet staff were superb - the best feature of the hotel, by far. Extremely friendly and helpful. The bartender was also great. Bottom line: if you’re looking for luxury, this is not the hotel for you. It was jammed with families (understandable given the time of year) and the music in the lobby is a non-starter. The rooms are also very small and dark. We experienced three of them and none had views despite the prime location in Lionshead. We will not be back.”

  • Revel Lounge-Excellant Food & Service

“Our party dined at the Revel Lounge inside The Hythe Resort on Saturday 8/15/2026. Our Server was Payton and her service and the food were awesome! We ordered the Grilled Chili-Lime Shrimp, Peach & Burrata salad, Hythe Smash Burger, Alpine French Dip, and Fries. The food was hot and delicious for sure! The restaurant was clean and attention to detail showed. Payton stopped by our table frequently to ensure we were satisfied and offered great suggestions on menu items too. The Manager on duty even stopped by our table to see if we were satisfied and if we needed anything further. All said - this was a very positive experience for us and we look forward to a return visit to Vail, CO soon. Well done Revel Lounge team!”

  • What a frustrating billing experience

    4/10

    EdinColorado · Business · 2026-08-12

“Anyone who has followed my reviews knows that overwhelmingly I like staying at Marriott properties. This experience has been frustratingly different. For years, I've come to the Vail Marriott (now is known as The Hythe by Marriott). Usually twice a year for conferences without issue. We enjoy Vail and enjoy the consistency of Marriott. Upon getting our bill by email, we noted that our credit card had been over-charged for an extra night of parking. Called the phone number on the emailed invoice, and was greeted by an "answering machine" menu; pressed the number for billing issues; and received another recording asking for the information and promising to get back "within two days." Four days later, heard nothing, so sent an email to what appeared to be Marriott's corporate customer service email. I explained the problem and that there was no response to the billing overcharge. In response to that email, I received a form email directing me to call the phone number ON THE INVOICE. Obviously, no one even read my email. SEPARATE ISSUE: The lights in Room 517 between the beds did not work, nor did the electrical outlets. Those things happen and I told the front desk. That didn't upset me. Between college and the U.S. Army, I was a front desk clerk at the Los Angeles Airport Hyatt. Those things happen and except for the cold shoulder on this billing error, I wouldn't have mentioned it. But this billing issue obviously frustrates me. If you are attending a conference and need an accurate receipt for your company's expense reimbursement, better stand in that long, long, line at checkout to review your bill before leaving the property. Or, you could uselessly call the number on the invoice.”

  • Charged for canceled night.

“I was charged for 1 night after canceling reservation. I was told by the front desk agent on the telephone that there would be no charge. They did not honor this and I was charged. I disputed with my credit card but lost the dispute as I couldn't verify what I was told on the telephone. Beware!”

  • World’s Stupidist Room

    4/10

    lionshead · Couples · 2026-07-05

“First, let me say, we love The Hythe. We have stayed here many times (and in the before times when it was the Vail Marriott). It is with puzzlement, therefore, that I report on Room 689, into which I have checked in tonight. This is a “1BR Residence.” It appears to be individually owned, as there are two locked owners closets. There can be no explanation for this room. The bedroom… has no windows. In many places, that isn’t even legal. The entire unit has no drawers for clothing. None. And there are *no* hooks. This is a sky property! The bathroom is not like other Hythe bathrooms. It is far from the bedroom. It is long and narrow. It is a combined shower/tub. There is a three inch step up from bedroom to hallway ripe for toe-stubbing. It is hard to believe there is a living architect who would sanction this design. The owners of 689 should be embarrassed, but, whatever—it’s theirs. The Hythe, however, should not be marketing this unit to guests. A manager should look at this room.”

  • Wonderful family stay in summer

    10/10

    mollyp2017 · Family · 2026-06-01

“We had an awesome family stay in early summer. The hotel is beautiful and everyone we encountered was so nice and helpful. It was quiet in Vail when we were there, and it was lovely. Not all the shops were open in town, and the main restaurant was closed at the hotel. Neither of that was an issue, just sharing. The pool, hot tub, s’mores each night and complimentary shuttle were all great touches. They also have an “Adventure Locker” where you can check out games, hiking equipment, cameras and nice rain jackets if it rains. Our kids loved this! Breakfast in the cafe was great each morning. The only thing that was a bit odd was that the bar closed at 8:00 pm even when the bar was full. It would be nice if they had the flexibility to stay open a bit longer when busy. The bartenders were very accommodating and did let everyone know in advance of the closing.”

  • Outstanding hotel, outstanding service

“I recently celebrated a milestone birthday at the Hythe with a large group of family and friends. We had an outstanding experience. It’s a gorgeous hotel - from the lobby, to the rooms to the bar area - all spacious and well-designed. But the best part was the service provided by the hotel staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel special every day. Meg helped us plan the entire 4-day event and provided many extras, like a champagne toast, a gift basket for my room, etc. Christian at the bar was SO friendly and worked magic for our large group. The concierge, Charlie, sent gifts to my brother’s room when he realized they came from the same town. Even the valet went above and beyond, helping us find a perfect hiking spot. I can’t wait to go back.”

“This is a lovely hotel. Unfortunately I had an important video call that I needed to take during my trip, and I found out mid-stay that there was no place for me to take it. I had to ask my spouse stay with the kids in their room, which was unfortunate. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.”

“We stayed at The Hythe Vail for three nights and had over ten thousand dollars worth of personal property stolen directly from our locked hotel room. This included an Apple Vision Pro, a Chanel bag, and ski goggles. The items were not left out. They were inside zipped bags in our luggage. The in-room safe was too small to accommodate them, which is unacceptable for a hotel charging luxury prices. Someone went into our bags and selectively took high-value items. No one had access to our room except hotel staff. What is truly unbelievable is that after the fact, the hotel somehow determined that there was only one possible person who entered our room on all three days who could have taken the items. Amazing how quickly that conclusion was reached. Even more alarming, there are no cameras in the hallways. For a so-called luxury hotel, the complete lack of basic security infrastructure is shocking. The response from management was dismissive and devoid of urgency. There was no accountability, no meaningful investigation, and no concern for the seriousness of what happened. Being robbed inside your own hotel room is violating. Being treated like it is an inconvenience rather than a crime is infuriating. This hotel charges over two thousand dollars per night while offering motel-level security and a total lack of regard for guest safety. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never experienced anything like this. Not once. If you value your belongings or your peace of mind, do not stay here. Paying luxury prices only to be stolen from and brushed off afterward is an absolute disgrace. This is not a luxury hotel. It is an unsafe property that does not protect its guests.”
