The Lenox is in a perfect location in Back Bay Boston. It's a gorgeous, historic building with fabulous staff, inviting atmosphere and really comfortable rooms. One of my regular issues with guest room lighting is definitely NOT a problem here.

“While on a visit to Boston we stayed at The Lenox in the Back Bay Area. This boutique hotel is small but very warm and welcoming. The rooms are comfortably decorated and the staff can’t do enough for you. Breakfast in the Willow & Ivy restaurant was very enjoyable. Wonderful place to stay when visiting Boston.”

“This is such a comfortable hotel. My room was clean, quiet, and right near a filtered water filling station, so no lugging around large plastic bottles. The rooms are on the small side, but had everything I needed for a wedding weekend stay. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. Very conveniently located for getting where we needed to go. Everyone was friendly and personable, and they easily accommodated a late checkout time.”

“The Lenox impresses at every turn: the guys at the front door greeting guests and grabbing luggage outside on a frigid cold day; the lobby which is not only warm and inviting but enjoyed by guests, the room which is beautifully clean and quiet. Everywhere you look is exactly what was needed and delivered by friendly, professional staff. And what was a wonderfully delightful discovery: the food and drinks in the hotel's restaurants are excellent and reasonably priced. The pear martini in Willow & Ivy was superb; the choices and friendly service in Mc Sweeny's Pub made it a great place to watch the Celtics on a VERY frigid, blustery January night. The room was quiet, comfortable &beautifully cleaned; it contained everything one wants. We haven't been to the Lenox for several years before this visit. A goal in the new year is to manufacture a reason to return.”

  • My love letter to the Lenox Hotel. We calculated that over the past 25 years that we spent $250,000 at the Lenox

“...and have lived here over 700 days! Let me explain: my husband‘s work was literally right across the street. On Boylston. When we first moved to Boston, I was living at the Lenox, like the Eloise books. We had moved here from Atlanta, for a three months stint (which turned into 10 years). We picked a room in the Lenox that faced his office, so when I called him, he could come to the window and we could see each other. It was important for his work that we live right across the street, because he dealt with time zones in other countries. This was 25 years ago, so no zoom calls then! So, he would just walk across the street at 3 o’clock in the morning. It was the most convenient place to live! Fast-forward: We have moved from Boston to North Carolina, but my husband needs to spend at least a week of every month at the Lenox… For decades…. Hence the 700 days of living there. Two weeks a year, I get to come up and be with him, and it is glorious! Sometimes we bring the children. Some fabulous Lenox memories in no particular order 1. When the children were three and five, they were able to come up to Boston with us. My husband told the front desk that the children would be with him this month, and they had free stuffed lions for us. They were thrilled! 2. Fire butlers! When I come up to visit, I try to plan it so that I am there for the holiday season, and fire butlers come up to the room and build a fire. I get to luxuriate in bed while my husband gets ready for work and a fire is built for me! So spoiled! 3. One year the Santa-speedo-race ran past the Lenox. 4. Using the Lenox as homebase, I can just run out of my room and straight to what used to be the Lord and Taylor! I wouldn’t even put on a coat (in December!) because I knew I’d run right back into the hotel and my cozy room. This way it was easier to shop without carrying a big winter coat and gloves and hat around. 5. Arriving late and having truffle mac & cheese delivered from room service. 6. Attending our nanny‘s wedding (she helped raise my daughter when we were living in Jamaica Plain) and taking a photo shoot of my daughter to compare the photos that she took at the Lenox 20 years later! 7. Sitting by the fire in the lobby and reading a book while I waited for my husband to come back to our room from a late night of work. 8. The way the Lenox smells when I enter the lobby. I bought a candle one year, but it did not quite work, but in 2025 I bought the room spray, and it is perfect! I wish I bought the atomizer when I was last there, because I do not see it online. 9. Our favorite rooms 500 508 512 523 10. Products: I’ve seen them move from Aveda to Kiehls and then from Kiehls to Beekman. And so forth... They are all high-end and wonderful. When Covid hit, they shut down the Boston office, so we do not get to Boston with as much frequency, but every time we do come up we try to stay at the Lenox, and it just feels…like…home. At a minimum, I will walk into the lobby, inhale the scent that holds 25 years and 700 days of memories, and get a drink in the lobby bar or breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Lots of photos taken over the years attached. I love you Lenox! Please put your room atomizer on line so I can purchase one!”

“ALWAYS a pleasure! This is one of our favorite hotels in Boston. We go every year at Christmas and enjoy a concert at Old South Church. We absolutely love the staff, the lobby, the comfy beds, the peace and quiet, and the filtered water with the elegant carafes. GREAT cocktails in the lounge or lobby. Old world charm meets modern flair. We have never had any kind of glitch staying here, and recommend it highly to visiting friends. It's very "Boston" and perfectly located near transport and things to do.”

  • A wonderful historic hotel in a great location

“Wonderfully elegant hotel in a great location in Back Bay. The staff were marvelous and very welcoming. Our room was perfect and very spacious. We were upgraded to a room with a fireplace because it was a special birthday ending in a zero. The hotel is a historic building and it has been beautifully preserved. The beds are super comfy and the housekeeping staff left our room spotless every day. The guys on the door, particularly Mike, are very helpful, so please make use of them - and don’t forget to tip a few dollars. This hotel really made our holiday a special one in the beautiful city of Boston, one of the most friendly cities we've visited.”

  • Quiet luxurious getaway for 4 nights

    10/10

    K45FEthomasm · Couples · 2025-12-01

“Quintessential classic Boston hotel. A place where you can hide for an extended getaway in style surrounded by quiet luxury. Staff is accommodating to all requests. Fireplace in suite was a beautiful treat. The breakfast package was worth every penny and I would absolutely do that again. The Willow and Ivy Thanksgiving dinner was beautifully presented, albeit a bit pricey for the ambience. No linens for tables seemed a bit off-putting. Also could have upped the game a bit with a complimentary champagne offering at the start of the meal. Nevertheless, marvelous event. The only constructive criticisms about the room: asked for standard pillows for the king suite. After 2 requests, we kept getting more king pillows, which I hate. Mattress was on the hard side without a pillowtop. Water faucet for the tub was not mounted to the tile which was not intentional. It obviously fell off and seems it should be fixed. It worked but was unsightly. Bathroom sink with 2 hairline cracks in porcelain. One pair of the complimentary room slippers was previously used, by someone with disgusting feet, who used them to death then put the back into the protective sleeve instead of tossing them. Housekeeping must have thought that they were not used at all and left them for the next occupant. So gross, but only discovered on last morning in hotel, so I just threw them away. Other than those things, I would absolutely recommend and will stay again.”

“Lovely people work there. Horrible noise at 6am. Several calls to front desk. “Please stop”. Sorry sir, “No can do.” Huh? “Construction” etc. Then, why put me in a room with deafening noise at 6am? Uhhh Anyway, a horrible experience. Don’t stay on 11th floor. You will not sleep.”

“This hotel was everything you’d expect from a gorgeous, storied Boston hotel. Dark woods, luxe beds and bedding and impeccable service. Convenience abounds, in both location as well as on-site restaurants. A deep closet for clothes, luggage and a mini fridge was a lovely find, and the hotel staff was exactly as it should be - attentive, genuine and friendly. For an old hotel, they’ve done a fantastic job keeping it both updated and classic at the same time. Would definitely recommend this hotel.”
