The resort is beautifully located in the hills about 20 minutes outside of Santa Fe. We visit Santa Fe often and usually stay right downtown either at the Inn of the Anasazi or La Posada. Rancho Encantado offers a respite from the bustle of the city center. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and serenity of the mountain setting plus all the extras that come with a top notch resort. Our casita was lovely—we enjoyed the view of the mountains from our balcony and firing up the in-room kiva fireplace. We had one of our best meals of the trip at Terra restaurant. Staff were friendly and most eager to please. We had a few hiccups with the shuttle service and housekeeping but the staff could not have done more to address the issues. We highly recommend Rancho Encantado and truly appreciate the incredibly attentive service they offer.

“We had a very enjoyable stay at the Four Seasons Santa Fe, spending several nights in a beautiful suite with both an indoor and outdoor fireplace—perfect for a cozy, restful experience. Room service was consistently very good, both the food and the cocktails, and the overall quality was high throughout our stay.
One highlight was the fire concierge, which added a thoughtful and memorable touch to the evenings and really reinforced the sense of relaxation. While service at the bar was occasionally a bit slow, the staff was gracious and the drinks were excellent, so it didn’t detract significantly from the experience.
One practical note: I strongly recommend reserving spa treatments well in advance. The spa was fully booked for most of our stay, and we weren’t able to get appointments without prior planning. Overall, a serene and luxurious retreat that we would happily return to.”
“This hotel has serious security and service issues. The property itself was lovely looking. We stayed in a beautiful casita. But when we brought the issues to the attention of management, we were literally ignored. Promised call backs from management simply never came. I escalated with an email to corporate that was never answered. Unacceptable for any hotel to disregard safety and security issues that included male staff sneaking into women's bathrooms when women were alone in there. But I honestly expected more from The Four Seasons. Following the scary incident being ignored, we left and checked into the El Dorado downtown. It was a much better experience. Be careful at this, and perhaps any Four Seasons property. They do not care about the safety and security of their guests.”
Amazing experience!

“A nearby favorite local hangout for entertaining guests or stopping by for a quick bite, especially the M-F happy hour from 3pm to 5pm. Recently shared happy hour drinks and assorted snacks and it didn't disappoint. The drinks and bites were prepared perfectly. When not busy, the service is exceptional as it was during this recent visit. Great to have this option nearby.”

“Booked here at the last minute as trip to national parks on hold due to government shutdown. We have stayed at Four Seasons resorts throughout the world.. most recently at Gresham Palace in Budapest, Four Seasons Jackson Hole and the Four Seasons in Rabat. All of these were excellent. Rancho Encantado doesn’t come close. It isn’t in the same league and frankly does not live up to the Four Seasons standards . Service is poorly lacking. Unprofessional throughout. We booked as a family 2 casitas. Upon arrival asked that they be close to one another. Was told that the property was “completely committed “ and the rooms were close together. Actually- the rooms were not close together and when booking it appeared that every room category was available. We asked if there was any possibility of an upgrade.. no no no was the response. There was absolutely no recognition whatsoever that we had stayed at numerous Four Seasons properties on many many occasions over the years. As we were staying two nights we asked the front desk clerk if we could be moved the following night. He said he needed to check with the manager- who was nowhere to be found. We asked specifically to speak to the manager. He never got back to us, however the front desk clerk called us hours later- they begrudgingly agreed to move us closer together.
Separately- at check in- around 4pm- asked for the concierge who was nowhere to be found and had left for the day. Huh??!!!
No one at the front desk had any idea which parks were open or not. What is this? Amateur hour?
Have never been so disappointed by a Four Seasons property.”

“Beautiful setting in the Sangre de Cristo foothills made our recent anniversary stay at Rancho Encantado special. We experienced breathtaking sunsets from our balcony each night, thoughtful resort staff, and lovely grounds and landscaping. Our 2nd-floor room was large with a fireplace, spacious balcony, marble bath, and regional art and decor. Front desk staff surprised us with a special bottle of bubbles for celebrating and bartender printed a cocktail recipe we enjoyed so we can try to concoct at home! Hiked up in the hills behind the resort each morning, enjoyed happy hour on the resort veranda, and swam in the pool early evenings in the dappled light. Yoga class was offered one weekend morning and fitness center over-looked the pool area for a needed distraction while on the treadmills. Had numerous conversations with staff, all pleasant encounters, and management took time to greet us daily and share their favorite Sante Fe destinations when asked. Resort is about 15 minutes north of Sante Fe and was an easy drive for spending a few days downtown visiting museums, art galleries, and historic sites. We had a car, but the resort offers hourly service to downtown Sante Fe if you want to forego driving. We were absolutely thrilled we chose Rancho Encantado for our "home" and they proved that the Four Seasons will go above and beyond to please their guests. We will return again soon.”
Spa and Management Fell Short

“We chose the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado in Santa Fe to celebrate our anniversary. During my massage, the therapist applied oil directly to my hair without asking. My hair was drenched, and I had no way to fix it before our anniversary dinner—it left me feeling uncomfortable on what should have been a special night.
I reported the issue to the hotel and followed up by email, but I never received a reply. At this level of property, I expected acknowledgment and a simple apology at minimum.
Four Seasons is known for its service philosophy, and I hope management reviews this situation so other guests aren’t put in the same position. The rest of the property is beautiful, but the lack of response to a clear service issue was disappointing.”
Sub par crisis management to power outage

“Complete property power outage at 3a. At 730a, learned the hotel backup generator was also not working. No notes left for guests with explanation of issue/actions taken. No manager on-site. No coffee or continental food. Guests are just being left to figure out how to manage the situation on their own. And at 9am, the person at the front desk is left to field screams from angry clients about an unacceptable response to this issue.
FS management at this property has to do better. Not impressed with my first visit here.”

“My husband and I stayed here last week and thought it was wonderful. The entire property is very quiet and relaxing. The staff were outstanding—every team member made a point to ask if we needed anything and were consistently helpful. Our casita was comfortable and private, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the patio.
We took advantage of the complimentary shuttle to the downtown area each day. In addition to recommending restaurants and making dinner reservations, the shuttle dropped us off and provided a return trip, which was incredibly convenient. We also enjoyed the short, easy trail located behind the property.
Upon arrival, there was a small snafu with our reservation. The manager personally greeted us with a sincere apology, explained the situation, and made things right. A big thank you to Andres for his professionalism and kindness.
The only downside was our experience at the Terra restaurant—we didn’t care for the dinner. However, our waitress was excellent.”

“Would not recommend this property given the price - poorly managed, grounds are weedy and unkept, no sundry store, no service after 10pm and the pool deck is lackluster. Casitas are very nice and housekeeping was very responsive. Stay at the Bishop’s Lodge - beautiful property with excellent staff.”

Worse Four Seasons I’ve ever been to!

“The worst experience ever! The front desk are clueless on what they are doing. One of them Carlos even hung up on me. They double billed me and overcharged me and the useless manager Andres couldn’t help me with an issue, completely useless. Argued with me for 30 min, the worst customer service skills. I spent over $3.5k for 2 night stay. Would never come back and don’t recommend this property!!”

“We went for two nights on a girls trip and booked on Amex, over 3 k for two nights. The room is nice but the hotel is nothing special. The worst part was the service. The hotel told us we have $100 credit and $70 per breakfast which we used. When we left the hotel told us that the credit did not apply as we didn't put incidentals on Amex and gave them a visa instead. They charged us an extra $270. When we called and said that we were never told that we need to give Amex for incidental (which we happly would have) the manager hung up on us! This is the worst experience at 4 seasons we ever had and that manager needs to get dismissed! He wouldn't give us the contact of his manager! We expect someone from 4 seasons to contact us right away as this is absolutely unacceptable. We will not be staying at 4 seasons ever again.”

“This is a beautiful property. Our room (casita???) was beautiful and elegant. The staff at the resort were all friendly and helpful. The food at the on-site Terra restaurant was excellent. I highly recommend the Dulce de Leche Warm Cake for dessert, but know that it's big enough for two people, so bring a friend! It was one of the best dessert experiences I have had anywhere.”

“Everything about the place is beautiful, thoughtfully designed, etc, BUT the dinner I had last night was maybe worst dining experience. Here's a brief summary: It took 45 minutes to get 2 glasses of rose and two expensive reds to arrive. Our waiter disappears. We ordered 4 med-rare hamburgers with onion rings. It took another hours to get our food (and we couldn't find a waiter to order more wine). The bergers were tepid and VERY WELL DONE. The buns were soggy on the bottom, dry non the top. The onion rings were tepid and greasy. The waiter apologized when delivering the food, and offered to comp the wine. The bill, still $100, took another 30 minutes as the waiter had now disappeared. We finally went to the reception desk to pay. As I said, and awesomely beautiful lace to visit/stay, but PLEASE AVOID TERRA!”

“This was our first time staying at a Four Seasons, and while the hotel is absolutely beautiful, and the location was lovely, it really was not what we expected from a 5 star hotel at this price point. For us, the big differentiator between a 4 and 5 star hotel comes down to the service, and unfortunately there were just a lot of little things that piled up and left us feeling disappointed. They lost some groceries we got delivered (eventually found them a day later after we bought more), only serviced the room once per day even though the website says twice, it took 45 minutes (not exaggerating) to get a lemonade and chips at the pool (and they got the order wrong), and we were upsold a suite because we were told it was private, but the back patio looked over the parking lot with people walking by all day. Also, on our last night, someone called our room at nearly 9pm (we were getting ready for bed) to ask if we wanted turn down or needed any towels. It was just very weird. Everyone was very polite and sweet, but it’s like nothing was ever quite “right.” The bed was very comfy and the room was spacious. The location is unbeatable. The place has a ton of potential. But I just expected something more “special.” We’ve stayed at the Peninsula and Intercontinental, and the service was just on another level. If I’m going to spend that kind of money again, I’d go somewhere that will deliver the equivalent service.”

“Just incredible service from start to finish, beginning with the booking all the way through checkout. Resort is quiet, with excellent views to the Jemez Mountains, 30 miles away. Rooms were excellent--no notes. The resort is wonderfully secluded with great hiking trails behind it up into the foothills of the mountains behind it.”
