The hotel itself was stylish, clean and modern. The staff were wonderful and seemed very focused on customers. The hotel is located downtown close to the riverwalk, bars, shops, and restaurants. The views were great. The hotel lobby had a jazz combo in the evening, so nice. Breakfast was in the restaurant and not included in the price. But the breakfast available was delish and fresh. You could choose buffet or a la carte. The hotel was very busy when we stayed because of a wedding and also it was marathon weekend. That being said, it was surprisingly quiet in the evening and we had no trouble sleeping. The beds and bedding were comfortable. We had a mini fridge but no microwave. The only thing i would change is adding a microwave to the room. The room was spacious and clean. Be aware of the daily parking charge; we paid between $40 and $90 depending on a few factors, so pretty pricey. The cost was somewhat expensive. As a person with a disability, i chose to use valet and it was $49 per day/night.

“We had an amazing stay at the Grand Rapids location. The hotel was very nicely kept and all the staff were very welcoming and professional. I want to compliment one employee in particular who we felt went over and beyond her job responsibilities. She took charge and instead of deligating she was actually doing everything. I was even more impressed to find out she was the general manager. Jas Staten is any companies ideal employee. She displayed professionalism, character and commitment well beyond expectation. You could tell she not only enjoyed her job but truly cared and it showed. The staff even commented on how much they loved working for and with her. JW you hit the jack pot with hiring Jas and I hope you know how valuable of an employee she is to the Marriott family.”

  • Great property with a little room to improve

“WOW, we loved our stay. The last time we visited was in 2020 where the hotel had bare minimum staffing and service wasn't the greatest. Great to see how things have changed. Arriving and self parking was very easy. The only downside is if you need an EV charger they are padlocked and you have to Valet + pay a surcharge. We opted not to but it is an inconvenience nonetheless. Check in was fast and great. We arrived at 1pm and got early check in, which helped with our family staying in multiple rooms. We went to the pool which was a decent sized indoor pool, good for laps but only about 3 foot 10 inches at its deepest. No hot tub but the eucalyptus steam room and infrared sauna room made up for it. Restaurant opens up too late, had a huge line at 5pm with tons of people trying to dine before the busy night. We enjoyed the service and food. We didn't get a chance to go to the club lounge for dinner or dessert since we opted for the restaurant for a quick meal before we ran to our show. Noise levels at this hotel are a little loud at night with lots of events going on. If noise is something you care about, inquire about it at check in to potential get a quieter room. Rooms are great sized, modern, and love the bathroom. The Club Lounge is on the top floor and is really tiny, which can get packed real quick. We arrived right at 7am for breakfast, to find that the staff didn't quite have everything set up and ready to go. I wish the staff were given more time to set up so food can be ready at 7am, which is already a little late compared to other properties. Food didn't end up being ready till closer to 7:15am and with the crowds it made a quick early morning meal a bit stressful. I know JW's don't provide breakfast as a welcome gift but I wish maybe they would offer breakfast in the restaurant in lieu of club lounge access to help with crowds and late setup times. Overall we loved the property and were so excited we were in the area to return. We will absolutely be back, and we look forward to trying the club lounge and restaurant again!”

  • Great Property But Be Ready for Noise

“What a great property! Lovely setting, stylish hotel, attentive service, modern rooms, some with great views of the river. Very diverse breakfast buffet and an active concierge lounge that is staffed and stocked. My only issue was needing to sleep and it was difficult. Early evening (8-11 pm or so), a concert was going on at a relatively new public amphitheater downtown and down river. But apparently the sounds travels easily and in tact across the waters to make it present to river-facing rooms in the hotel. The front desk offered to send up ear plugs, but if this is problem, better sound proofing and thicker paned or multi-paned windows are needed in those rooms. The offer of ear plugs is hardly a solution. To make it worse, a trio of drummers began playing on the Blue Bridge at 1:30 AM. The front desk called the police, but it took them until about 2:15am to get it shut down. All in all, not much quality sleeping time. While the drumming is clearly an issue beyond the hotel's immediate purview, staff seems to know about these noise problems. Absent a window fix, the least they could do is alert guests to the possibility and invite them to request a room that is not liable to be noisy. In fact, they alerted me via formal written letter to lock upgrades happening during my stay, but noise is clearly a bigger issue.”

  • Great stay. All staff were amazing.
