“I was expecting a deluxe, elegant experience at this property, especially in view of the fact that it is a member of Relais & Chateaux and holds 2 Michelin stars. We arrived at the Auberge for check-in around 10 AM on the 19th of May. The Front desk staff did not appear welcoming, friendly or in any way willing to help. We were flatly told we had to wait until 4 PM for a room. We were finally given our keys at 3:30 and would finally be able to unpack and relax. At 6 PM housekeeping knocked on the door for turn down so that would be the end of relaxation. We had no turn down during our next 2 days at the property.
Breakfast buffet was meager and unappetizing so we walked out of the dining room. The room was pleasant - nothing special. Bathroom was very small. Shower and tub, clumsy. We called the desk to ask how to access the guide on the TV remote. We were told there was none since recent work on the network had eliminated this feature. We asked during our stay about a "do not disturb" hanger for the door. We were told there was a switch on the right side of the door but we saw no such switch. We later found out that some rooms do have such a switch, ours did not.
On morning of check out, I went to the front desk just before our Uber arrived to review extra charges and to get a print out. According to the invoice, agent 24 checked us out. He handed me the print, saying “here you go.” No kind words of "thank you" or "how was your stay" or "have a safe journey." Just, “here you go.” So, would I be wrong to say that staff were cold? Apathetic? Distant? Prejudiced? Bored? Dunno.
As a retired travel industry manager, I feel that when fine hotels or restaurants slip up, management should be apprised.”

“There for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Cannot find a fault at all, be it the room, the staff, the facilities and the food served in the restaurant be it breakfast or dinner!
Its location is also a plus given it is just downhill from Quebec old town which is an absolute must to visit.
Would recommend to anyone.”
Staff Service and Location Were Perfect

“From the moment we pulled up and the staff whisked away our luggage and handled parking to check-in, everything felt very perfect. The location is incredibly central and convenient for exploring the city. The concierge team of Genevieve, Jean, and Marjorie were absolutely wonderful, arranging all our dining reservations and activities with such genuine warmth and personal attention. We enjoyed an exceptional tasting menu at their restaurant that exceeded all expectations, and Oliver, the maitre d, was truly amzing in every way. Our room had beautiful views and was impeccably appointed. Honestly, our only regret is that we didn't book more nights because we left wishing we could stay longer. Every member of the team made us feel so welcome and taken care of throughout our visit. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quebec City!”

“Great central location, excellent restaurant and rooms with a view
From the first moment arriving with our car when the team took care of luggage and parking and checking us in we had a great feeling. The concierge team Genevieve, Jean and Marjorie organised our activities and food experiences wonderfully and with so much charm and warmth.
We had a special taster menu at the restaurant which was superb. Oliver the maitre d was amazing.
We wish we could have stayed longer.
Thanks to the entire team!”

“This was a first class hotel. We absolutely loved it! From the heated bathroom floors to the exceptional service and outstanding concierge team it made our stay extra special. It is very close to the best things to do in Quebec City. There is a wonderful Maison Smith coffee shop just a few blocks away and the Buffet Antiquaire is a black or two away if you want an American style diner breakfast. We could get to the Frontenac walking in less than 10 minutes. Thank you staff of the Auberge Saint-Antoine”
One of the Best Hotel Stays We’ve Ever Had
10/10

“Some hotels are simply a place to sleep. Others become part of the trip itself.
Auberge Saint-Antoine was definitely the latter.
We stayed here in July 2023 during a New England and Canada road trip with another couple. After visiting Newport, Bar Harbor, and before continuing on to Montreal, we arrived in Quebec City not knowing that one of the most memorable parts of our vacation was about to begin.
The warm welcome started the moment we checked in. The receptionist smiled and asked, “Are you here for the music festival?”
My friend and I looked at each other and replied, “What music festival?”
She laughed and told us that the Foo Fighters were performing the following night.
They had been on both of our bucket lists for years. Unfortunately, the concert was sold out—but thanks to the incredible staff, we were somehow able to secure wristbands. It felt like winning the lottery and turned into one of those unexpected travel moments we’ll never forget.
The surprises didn’t end there. When we checked out, the reception team casually mentioned that the Foo Fighters had actually been staying at the hotel while we were there. We never crossed paths with them, but it made the entire experience even more memorable.
The hotel itself is extraordinary.
We stayed in the Queen Charlotte Room, and it was absolutely beautiful. One of the things that makes Auberge Saint-Antoine so unique is that every room is named after a historical figure and features authentic archaeological artifacts discovered during excavations of the site. It truly feels like staying in a living museum without sacrificing luxury or comfort.
Every corner of the hotel reflects the incredible history of Quebec City while still feeling elegant, warm, and modern.
The location couldn’t have been better. Situated in Old Quebec, we were able to walk almost everywhere. We spent hours wandering the charming cobblestone streets, browsing wonderful art galleries, exploring the historic waterfront, and discovering cafés and shops just steps from the hotel.
Although we chose to dine around the city for most meals, we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast each morning, and every evening we found ourselves back in the beautiful hotel bar for a nightcap. It quickly became one of our favorite parts of each day.
What truly elevated our stay, however, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was welcoming, genuinely friendly, and eager to make our visit special. Their warmth and enthusiasm made us feel less like guests and more like friends returning home.
I’ve been fortunate to stay in some incredible hotels around the world, and I can honestly say Auberge Saint-Antoine ranks among my Top 10 favorite hotels of all time.
It’s rare to find a hotel with this much character, history, luxury, impeccable service, and an unforgettable story to tell.
We will absolutely return to Quebec City—and one of the biggest reasons is simply to stay at Auberge Saint-Antoine again.
ZiobroTravels Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
If you appreciate historic luxury hotels with outstanding service, perfect walkability, and a truly one-of-a-kind atmosphere, this hotel belongs on your bucket list.”

“We stayed at Auberge Saint-Antoine for a family trip and had a frustrating experience with the concierge team. We asked about using the hotel’s private movie theater, and the concierge told us to come down whenever we were ready. We brought our 3- and 5-year-old down as instructed, only to be left waiting 30 minutes with no explanation and no updates from staff on why, or how much longer it would be.
For a hotel at this price point, and for a family traveling with young children, this kind of miscommunication is a real problem. If there was a delay, we should have been told before making the trip down, or at minimum kept informed while waiting with two tired kids. Small details like this matter — especially when a hotel positions itself as a high-touch, service-forward property.
The rest of the stay had its bright spots, but this kind of basic service breakdown was disappointing and avoidable.”

“It is unfortunately much too late for us… but you should stop recommending Auberge Saint Antoine… we have been here for three days… very expensive junior suite… still no functioning wifi on our floor and none in sight…… hotel bar refused to serve me at 10pm on Sunday “IN JULY!!!” as “they were closing”… no laundry service on weekends…no mini bar in the room… this is a complete joke… three stars maybe…at best…”

“We’re doing a grand tour of Canada and staying in lots of different hotels. This ranks higher for us than any of them. The bed linen, room design, generosity of gifts in the room on arrival and again on departure, are all second to none. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is of superb quality. A memorable stay for all the right reasons, thank you.”

“We stayed for two nights at the end of June. What makes an hotel successful is personalized service, cleanliness, sleep quality, and the dining experience. At Auberge Saint-Antoine, all these criteria are not only met but surpassed. Thank you again for your warm welcome.”
Lovely hotel. But a bit of a disappointment overall.

“Hotel is in a great location. It has two Michelin keys. Which is why we booked. Not a cheaper hotel. Booked with AMEX Fine hotels. Our experience… arrived. No one there at 12.30pm to help us with heavy case up several flights of stairs. Check-in was disappointing. No early check in available. Promised a text before 4pm to check in. No text. So we came back at 4pm. Got our expected room upgrade. Nice room. Great bathroom. No night light if you need to get up at night.
Very little water provided in room. Stayed 3 nights. Milk for tea/coffee never topped up. Had to ask for it.
Breakfast was brilliant. Great choices. Eggs prepared fresh every day. Was wonderful to sit in sun at breakfast too.
Curtains in room wouldn’t close. Some bulbs not working. Sorry, get the basics right please.
Wine in bar were great. Sadly bar was closed at 2130 when we came back from dinner. Really disappointing overall. But a comfortable stay. Not sure it was worth $450 a night. Certainly wouldn’t recommend to friends.”

“We stayed here two nights. Arrived too late for a dinner out, so had wine, charcuterie, and a tasty & unique asparagus appetizer for dinner. The bar staff were so friendly, we stopped back the next night for an after dinner drink. The place was very clean and well located.”

“I loved the location of the Auberge Saint-Antoine located in lower Old Town. You can walk to the many restaurants, shops, and the river. The funicular and stairs are a short walk which will take you to upper Old Town.
We arrived at 12;00 pm looking to check- in early and we were told that check- in time is at 4:00 pm.
We ended up checking in around 3:15 pm.
I asked if we had a river view or courtyard view and we were told he had a view of a wall. I first thought she was kidding but she was not.
If you want a guaranteed view you should book it.
The lobby was beautiful and very relaxing.
The doorman was always friendly and offered to help.
One of the highlights of the hotel was the concierge, Geneviève. She booked a couple of restaurants for us and they both were memorable.
I would not hesitate to stay here again.”

“We stayed at the Auberge Saint-Antoine for 4 nights in October of 2025. There are many positive reviews about this property so perhaps our expectations were too high but overall we were a bit underwhelmed.
The Auberge is located in the Old Town near the water and is very convenient to all sights and transportation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge was also helpful (but there was no concierge on Sunday of our stay).
We had drinks and food at the bar and it was fine. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast - which seems to receive high praise online - was not good. The coffee was undrinkable. The buffet was a normal hotel buffet and the cooked-to-order food was not very good. We considered whether the first morning was just bad luck but the second day was just as bad so we had breakfast elsewhere the other two mornings.
Our stay was booked via the American Express FHR program which, among other things, guarantees a late checkout (4PM). Apparently the Auberge derives a lot of business from this program. We arrived early in the morning and did not expect early check-in but we did expect to be in our room by 4PM. However, we were told at 4PM that (1) we could not have a room because they had too many late checkouts and (2) they had no idea when we would have a room. We waited until almost 6PM and then insisted that our room be prioritized for cleaning. This may have been a mistake because when we got to our room at around 6:30PM, we found a broken table, leftover food in the fridge and dirty towels under the sink. Also, I noticed several other parties still waiting for their rooms at 6:30.
Finally, I note that our room on the second floor sometimes smelled of sewage. The smell came and went. When I mentioned this to the front desk, they just said that this sometimes happens on the lower floors and did not try to resolve.
We didn't hate it but would definitely try another property on our next visit.”

“The hotel is conveniently located, well appointed and features a very good breakfast served with hospitality. But I was not entirely sure about our choice until I met the concierge Genevieve.
With good humor and grace she listened carefully, made excellent suggestions and convenient arrangements. That made the visit to Quebec City five stars and our choice of hotel just fine.”
